Re: They shall not grow old

I saw the premier last night. A number of cinemas around the country had a live link up to BFI filming in London, followed by Mark Kermode interviewing Peter Jackson. They've done a great job, the footage looks amazing, and coupled with the voice overs from years of recorded interviews it tells the ...

That’s what I thought, and what’s shown on the IWM site, but this is what the BBMF have published for the weekend:

Will the BBMF be operating from Dux? i believe they are going to be flying in They posted the weekend's schedule on their facebook page yesterday. Shows LHS which is a surprise to me as I thought it was just the Lancaster booked to display. Departing from Conningsby down to Duxford for 14:54 on Sat...

Also if we take a picnic and leave it in the car , how far is the parking to the show ? Thank you in advance x Every time I've been we've managed to get pa...

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2018

If you are coming from the Royston direction then turn right into the same place. Either way if you are in this area at least your car can be your base for the day without taking all your belongings with you. With the Reds and the Typhoon present it is going to be very busy. Hope for good weather a...

They can scan the barcode on your phone. No need to actually print them. That’s how we’ve done it in previous years.

Re: Any guidance regarding Spitfire formation flights

When I did my flight there was a briefing at the start about not moving around in the Dove once in the air. They obviously don’t want everyone jumping over to one side all at once! The Spit spent pretty much equal time on either side and repeated it’s positions, but there was a difference in sun pos...

Re: Any guidance regarding Spitfire formation flights

I did their Fly with a Spitfire over Dover from Headcorn the other year for my 40th, a wonderful experience. Make sure you take time in the flight to appreciate it in realtime, not just focusing on taking photos. If you get choice sit further back in the Dove, that way you won't have the wing in the...

Flying display from 1pm till 5:30. Haven't had to pay for my son to attend and I booked ages ago so it was £20 plus the fiver to park. Seems great value to me for a whole day out.

I'll be there this Sunday for the "Monster Truck UK Nationals". Big noisy fun with races and then a freestyle competition with plenty of caravans being driven into. That takes place on a separate tarmac area adjacent to the main drag strip. They also some demos on the strip during the day ...

We saw Dunkirk... the timeline is challenging It's a Christopher Nolan film, that's his thing isn't it. A couple of mentions of the YAK cameraship, was it visible in some scenes then? Can't say I noticed it! It's never visible as a complete airframe but it shows when looking forward from inside the...

The stalls selling diecast and model kits seems to get less and less each year at airshows, instead being replaced by others that I wouldn't expect at an airshow. Is the market for diecast and model kits dead??? I noticed that as well, not sure how many people came away with garden ornaments, some ...

I'm sure the lack of warbirds is intentional to make it a different show from Legends and the Sept BoB show.

Looks like it, we must have been very lucky, there were people inside the hanger on the far side of the Lancaster when we looked in from the viewing window.

Had a look inside the Stephenson Hangar, where the BBMF Lancaster is housed, and the lights were off and you can not really see anything. Just a very dark shape in the shadows, no details. If you want to see the Lancaster then a weekday visit when the lights are on is advisable. I was there yesterd...

I'm sure the BBMF had the Lancaster listed for Duxford on their schedule, but it's not now....

Just down for Goodwood and Southport both days.

Anyone seen any other confirmation? It's still in the IWM list.
