Re: FRIAT 2023 ticket increases discussion
Hi all, I received a mail from Wendy with the grandstand seating plan link. But when pointing in any seats, no one is available. The colored seats are tagged "you can't choose more than 0 places" and the "blank" one are all tagged "not available". So, what seats are av...

RED ALERT for weather means exactly that and is a danger to life whatever age you are.Even keeping hydrated may not help as too much water can make you ill aswell. Its people,s own responsibility to act how they think is best for them and tbh spending 8 hours watching an airshow in the heat which is...

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
It was embarrassing when the Riat photographers up the big ladder strongly “asked” the Spanish F18 team to move their tables, chairs, and items they were selling so they could get an uncluttered picture. The Spanish were less than happy and only moved when the senior officer told them to. While the ...

Re: Red Arrows - Seven aircraft display 2022
I wonder if they're thinking can cover more events with 2x 7 ship teams and a couple spare? Have red arrows a and b teams. This will be in relation to them picking up certain other taskings from recently disbanded T1 units See this tweet https://twitter.com/marcusramsden_/status/1528790565307002880...

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Boris' statement in the Commons today on restrictions is telling. Unless something else and more sinister kicks off, you won't be mask wearing (unless you want to), you won't be LFTing or even social distancing. So I can imagine where talk of Covid passports in July will be deposited. Right in file...

Re: RAF Museum Airframe Disposal List
If you really don't think that when an organisation becomes progressively dominated by women rather than men its characteristics and priorities don't change radically then I think you are being less than honest. I challenge you to look at the RNZAF Museum/Air Force Museum of New Zealand under the l...

Re: Climate Change - Airshows
Don't forget those bloody Vikings, because recent finds would indicate they caused climate change too, as the last ice-age was clearly their fault. I'd much rather people have a sceptical attitude and question claims than buy into the evangelical fundamentalism currently in vogue. Depends solely on...

Re: RAF roundel query
A roundel is supposed to identify the operating nation of an aircraft, from a distance. Combat, trainer, transport or other role is irrelevant. The current two-tone grey on the Dave goes against international conventions as has blurred the lines somewhat as you can not distinguish certain nations a...

Re: Climate Change - Airshows
Can you give an example of a genuine massive reversal? A lot of stories that portray this are terrible misrepresentations of both the previous and new studies they refer to Where to start.... Salt, sugar, butter, meat, alcohol, carbohydrates ( because the 'experts' never used to differentiate ), fa...

Andyph, While I never like to predict anything at all, I will say this, on the eve of the 2010 RIAT (I believe it was) as I drove away from the East view parking area I was tuned to the local radio station. The local news came on and prominent among the Bulletins was RIAT. They had on a short inter...

Re: RAF Voyager?
Everything in the UK inventory, bar the C-17, RC-135, and P-8 (likely E-7 too) is refuellable. Considering the normal range of these types, that's not really as much of an issue as the DM would like you to think it is! Did you not read about how the C-17 nearly ran out of fuel when it went to Sudan?

Depends.....subjectively, both Cosford & Yeovilton could be said to be better than RIAT. Cosford was good this year, one of the best for years but 'better than RIAT'? Have you been on the home brew, Brevet? *obvious troll is obvious etc etc Nope, I'm just looking at it from a Joe Pub viewpoint ...

Further to my previous point, 2017 saw 160,000 visitors whereas this year saw 185,000. This all but goes to show that the claims that the price is reducing attendance has just been fabricated

Re: The future of RIAT
What will kill RIAT eventually is the rising cost of admission. There's only so much milk in the teat. Asking £50 for a ticket when each year seems to be ever-diminishing returns is bound to end one way. Hasn’t stopped them selling out the past few years. Have you got any evidence to suggest these ...

No, 120 Sqn has not yet reformed. U.K. pilots embedded at Beaufort, both RAF and RN, were members of VMFAT-501 until 617 reformed and some instructors and students remain so. The P-8 seedcorn crews at Jax are members of VP-30. The 120 squadron standard was reformed in March with crews being detache...

I don't like this 'If its nothing but praise for the RAF then your opinion don't matter' mentality. That’s really not the case here. I do think that it could have been better in areas but there is such a sense of entitlement on this board now that there never used to be. People seem to think that A...

Hell RAF100 is a central theme of Oshkosh this year. Let's see what that's like and all. Oshkosh is essentially celebrating it in a way that RIAT celebrated the USAF last year - however as yet there are no in-service RAF aircraft scheduled to participate in any form, despite it being (I believe) th...

Re: RIAT 2018: Thoughts & feedback!
Probably because the main thing they had planned at the show didn't happen, the RAF100 stickers were abysmal and they weren't even on all the aircraft that came so there wasn't even a sense of unity among it, there wasn't an example of every RAF asset in service at the show (as had been intended an...
