Just a heads up to anyone in the area, the USAF F15 & F35A due to depart tomorrow (Friday) evening after 17:00 local (precise time depends on other departing traffic etc.)
Sadly I won't be still around at the airfield at that time!

Re: RIAT 2020
No snowbirds either Snowbirds don't have the range to come to the UK. If the range of the CT-114 is 944 miles, which apparently it is, then they could get from Narsarsuaq to Reykjavik (770 miles) and then from Reykjavik to Prestwick (842 miles). Assuming they can fly from somewhere in Canada to Nar...

Theme confirmation? " Aircraft with Wings "- "a look across the decades at how the wing has played an important part of aviation. Aircraft with wings from all across the globe have been invited to this premier first debut inaugural event showcasing the wing" Very good

I'm sure Wave 105 (one of the local radio stations) have streamed it live before on their website?

Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2019
I've always like going on the pier at Bournemouth. It's at the end of the display line, but you still get to see everything close up and the sun is more at your side than in your face as the afternoon wears on. So where is display centre - is it east of the pier Display centre is halfway between Bo...

Fantasic photos
Do you know if there was any announcement regarding dates for next year's show (either in the commentary or programme?)
I will be in Switzerland between 13th-17th August next year, hoping I get lucky

Re: RIAT 2019
Very smart. Before RIAT 2019, the Friday was a lot cheaper. If anything the £5 discount is not a good will offer at all but more a case of reverting back to cheaper ticket prices (they won't make a loss as they'd still make the same amount as they would have in 2018) and marketing it as discount (p...

Re: RIAT 2019
IIRC the 9-ship manoeuvre requires aircraft coming from crowd rear. That requires special dispensation under the regs which (IIRC) can only be given to UK teams and then only 2 or 3 hold this including the Reds, BBMF and (I think) the Blades. The special dispensation must have also been given to th...

Re: RIAT 2019
Slightly Stranger question- Cast your minds back a year ago to the Friday and the Flanker demo in particular-- THAT super sketchy low pass, did anything ever come of that, or any reasoning as to why it was what it was, just looking through last years photos and thought I'd ask. Yes, they didn't do ...

Re: RIAT 2019
Looking at the Saturday timetable, see the Mig-21, SU-27 and F35 all after 17:00, guess a lot will miss out who leave early to avoid the traffic jams. Ah well Never understand this kind of thinking, it's just as bad as when people start leaving football matches 5 minutes before the end "to bea...

Re: RIAT 2019
B-2 would be excellent, absolutely nothing else like it and to think we’ve had one in the flying for the past 2 years in a row is ridiculous. Fingers crossed if it comes to fruition it isn’t held over Brize for 15 mins for something mundane to go on too long, and we get something like 2017’s appear...

For the spotters, Su-27P1M "39 Blue" will be the display jet this year. A new display pilot too, one Yuriy Bulavka. The previous pilot Alexander Oksanchenko is also believed to be taking part in some form or another. The static jet is now confirmed as once again being BLUE 71. I thought Y...

Re: RIAT 2019
Indeed @Ian_Gale. All being well, our F35B “role demo” @airtattoo will involve fast and slow passes, finishing with a decel to hover and pedal turn, before then returning to @RAF_Marham. Should be a great sight for all, and superb opportunity for photos. m Why would they not do the exactly the same...

Maybe not, but once again looks amateurish for the world's best airshow not recognising its own products.

Re: New RAFCTE (RIAT) CEO announced.
Can we just acknowledge the fact that when Andy Armstrong was announced as the new CEO of RIAT (in 2013???), there were people on here saying it would be a disaster for the show. I would say that under his stewardship, 2014-2018 (and probably this year) were some of the best RIATs since I started at...

Re: RIAT 2019
Rubbish. Airshows were always well attended and they didn't need all the sideshow stuff were getting now. A tent full of army surplus was all we got. I've no doubt they'd still get a huge turnout without a hamster wheel. And this anti enthusiast sentiment is also bollocks. If there were no enthusia...

You might not actually get any It's nice to be able to see them on the deck, a stroll over to the east end is often worth it. The Vampire pair were right by the rope last year, the Red Bull Mitchell in [inset correct year] was similarly close. And there is something quite cool about just how perfec...
