Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus

Thanks MiG-Eater. I am struggling to hold it together to be honest. And as much as I fear for my future, it’s the fear for the futures of those I hold dear that is killing me. But thanks for the words of understanding and positivity. Sure, see you at RIAT’s big birthday next year.

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus

This is a living nightmare. I have so many difficult decisions to make, but whatever I chose to do, I know it will not end well. I’ll lose many loved ones and most probably my income and my home. And absolutely my sanity.

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus

It's reached a point now where I couldn't give a rats arse whether RIAT gets cancelled or not. And I am not remotely interested in whether I'd get refunded or not. All I'm interested in is whether my parents survive this and whether I'll ever see them again and whether anyone is going to still have ...

Gladiator - Even less actual flying?

I saw an article on UKDJ about a new simulator package that will allow large numbers of pilots to exercise together without leaving the ground. Reading the MOD press release it does sound as if even less actual flying is on the cards. Even the exercises involving foreign air arms could be performed ...

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus

I'm amazed at how many people I've spoken to that are far more authoritative on this subject than the politicians, medics and scientists. If only the powers that be knew there was a janitor where I work (amongst others) who could tell them that all this is a stupid media manufactured event and that ...

Re: The Red Arrows will be moving to.....

As for harkins' post speculating on the future of the RAFAT full stop - seriously? Yes, of course. I wasn't saying that it is highly likely or imminent, but I cannot believe that there are not some people in government and even in the air force that would have no problem saving a huge amount of mon...

Re: The Red Arrows will be moving to.....

I'm sure the MOD and maybe even the RAF big wigs would love to axe them as it'd be a huge saving. Probably just a little concerned about the backlash from various quarters.

Re: RIAT 2020

As for the Matadors, fingers cross and also no tail art please! Unbelievable, just be full of gratitude if they even turn up! Unbelievable, someone has to jump on a fairly benign and hardly unreasonable hope. You can have this Thursdays least entitled RIAT poster award. If we are lucky enough to se...

Re: RIAT 2020

I agree with Tommy, whilst I also agree with Jason and Go4Long. Variety is great, but in an age of so few rare or star items, it is frustrating that you miss something good so narrowly. I'm tempted to do both shows this year, but I can't hide my frustration that the only two big military airshows in...

Re: Hyakuri March 2019

Great photos Wes. I know bright sunshine and blue skies is what many consider the most important aspect of an aircraft photo, but personally, I think that your photos are great and have an atmosphere that I haven't seen in many of the very many other Hyakuri posts (and no heat haze). And besides, I'...

Yes Tommy, I apologise for using "the last couple of years" when the marketing madness was a feature of last year only. And also sorry for trying to circumvent the foul language ban.

Re: RIAT 2020

A nice balanced post Woodster. I think you're right that other promising themes previously haven't achieved their potential. And in all honesty, these themes are quite strange in as much as they on the one hand can't fail; a couple of Typhoon, F-16 and Grippens in the air and static and bobs your un...

Re: RIAT 2020

This 'announcement' was perfect material for the DBH are idiots versus DBH are perfection argument that we enjoy on here. It certainly was an announcement, and a fairly safe one as there is a pretty good chance these two RAF types will make some sort of appearance. But as much as it was an announcem...

Re: RIAT 2020

I have to agree with Mark, this is not a confirmation (subject to operational commitments) it's more an assumption that they will be there. It doesn't even specify flying or static (although the RAF P-8 would 100% be static only of course). It's not much different than saying "Hopefully we will...

Re: Aircraft seen randomly at unexpected but most welcome ti

I can't really add to this apart from maybe a USAF Boeing C-32B (a 757) at Dubrovnik as I was boarding my holiday flight home.

I think I have way more instances of expecting to see aircraft and not. Staring forlornly across an airfield, camera in hand with nothing but the sound of skylarks.

Re: Really sad no big Lincolnshire airshows

There have been, but I think he is meaning in more recent times as he said has, not had. Wasn't the last public air show at Coningsby in 1996? And I tend to agree that given that they had held shows there in the past, and since at other similarly active bases, that Coningsby hasn't held a show quart...

am rapidly running out of patience with the stuff on Facebook at the moment, not a huge amount of love amongst the world on there Indeed. You might as well post your photos up on the Daily Mail comments sections if you're into that kind of abuse. I have to say that Flickr in my experience is a rath...

Re: In the "Kris Kris Tofferson!" Flickr?

Even with a large community of other people where I can 'fave' their photos that I like or are of interest to me? And could I create albums and groups and have the exif data visable and show time and dates of photos and locations and allow commenting etc? Can I do this easily whilst also doing my 9 ...

Re: In the "Kris Kris Tofferson!" Flickr?

And so the price hike begins $59.99 a year now $117.99 for two years is this the beginning of the end ? The two year saving is so small, why would you commit to that now, especially when the sense is that the platform is on shaky ground? I'll be very sad to see it go, but I can't help but feel it's...

Re: RIAT 2020

I thought the 'theme' for what it's worth is the Battleof Britain 80th anniversary, although it's fair to say that if it is, they're not exactly making much of it. The wingy stuff doesn't exactly come across as a priority, theme or not. Having said all that, themes are a bit dead in the water these ...

They've probably forgotten to send the invites. They've much more interesting marketing strategies to be working on.
