Re: Battle Of Britain 80: The Night Shoot
I went, was actually fairly impressed given the conditions. The offer of refunds was a good move, and Liam Shaw who was running it was very helpful, moving and shuffling things to people's requests. The Hawk 75 was outside Hangar 2 for the duration, and the CR42 pulled to the front of H2 South which...

Re: Duxford Diary 2019
Great to see the DD has found a home, and excellent to see many of the regular contributors jumping ship too. I think a dedicated historic section would be an excellent move. To not take advantage of the influx of new members would be an opportunity missed - a real potential to breath some new life ...

Re: La Ferte Alais 2019
Planning to attend La Ferte for the first time this year, its the weekend after the D-Day events so seems worthwhile. Couple of questions. Is the display the same on both Saturday and Sunday, approx what time does flying start / finish and is it a continuous show or does it "break for lunch&qu...

Re: Victory Show 2018
Cracking show. I was set up at the northern end of the crowdline where it bent around the aircraft parking, close, fast topsides all day long. Really interesting formations, too. Glad it worked out well for the show!

Re: June 3rd - Fly Navy III
I really enjoyed the show yesterday, admittedly I don't think it was a classic such as the June evening show last year, but certainly one of the more memorable shows there. 4 visiting big pistons, 2 of which landing on was awesome. I really enjoyed Chris Gotke's routine in the RNHF Sea Fury, love th...

Re: RAW for razor-sharp?
'Sharpness' will be more a result of the quality of lens you have. RAW will not make shots taken through a beer bottle sharp nor will JPEG ruin the quality from the finest lens. RAW just gives you more leeway in processing - exposure corrections and colour temperature for example. I always use RAW -...

Re: Duxford Air Festival 2018
Last year had the Rafale, Typhoon, Vampires, MiG-15, Strikemaster Pair and Sea Vixen... surely no comparison to this years lacklustre lineup!? I must agree, this years line up is very poor indeed. No Typhoon, no Red Arrows, hardly any support or show from our own prestige, the Royal Air Force, who ...

Re: La Ferte Alais 2018
Quick question: did anyone that attend happen to know the ID of the BE2 in the static park. It didn't fly on Sunday. It is the Be2f n°2560 according to the Memorial Flight website - m - if you go into the projects tab it is in there. It only recently arrived at LFA I think. Looks lovely, the cockpi...

Re: RAF Cosford Air Show 2018 - [Main Topic]
For posterity: A damn fine machine. I've not seen it for years, so I look forward to that. It's always nice to see Duxford warbirds away from Duxford. Not in a bad way, just that such pedigree should be shared around the country as much as possible, IMO. For those who haven't the funds or knowledge...

Re: Circuit Leavers and Joiners 2018
Of those listed, EP122 (if it goes) displayed in her proper colours once(?) and Frankie has practically sat in a hangar for the last couple of years, so they're not really losses airshow circuit as such. I wonder if this year may see the return of AR501, along with the debut of the Camel at Old Ward...

Terrific addition. Having watched them display as a quartet (P-38, Corsair and 2 Alpha Jets) on a live stream (think it was a Swiss show - anyway, I digress) it looked fantastic!

Re: What makes a "good" aviation photograph?
Where do we stand on things like prop blur, out of interest? Is it one of the golden rules of aviation photography?! Props and rotors look wrong without it, but I'm not one of those "I must get full-discs" kind of blokes. Full-discs make it so you don't really see the props that well &...

Re: Lightning Double Twilight Run
One of my favourite events of the year. Don't be afraid to use high ISO if you need. See the EXIF data on these for an idea, although this year they have switched ends which may have an impact on the light/silhouette-y shots https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5782/30950965976_fa52a22f23_h.jpg Lightning ...

Re: September Air Show 2017
Don't suppose any one remembers the Canadian Lancaster visit when the museum car parks were full by 9AM and there was grid lock all day on the local roads and M11 from people trying to get in. The Police and County Council were not impressed and wanted some way of controlling the number of cars arr...

Re: September Air Show 2017
This thread is turning into a parody. Clearly something has gone wrong, but the forum rules state no speculation (which the mods are usually fairly hot on, but hey, lets bash Duxford). At the end of the day, both aircraft and pilots got down safe and sound, end of until the AAIB come to a conclusion...

Re: Gatow Museum
Yes I very much got the impression that something was being reworked. Could've loved to trawl through the storage area. Not sure why only one hangar was open as they did point out that the other one had a WWI exhibition on, so clearly it's open at the moment. When I was there in February the second...

I may be giving this a shot, will be travelling from Leicester so will be a 2 hour journey but will try make it early. What is a good time to aim for reaching the venue to miss traffic? Re: Shuttleworth Fly Alongside flights
Depends on which seat, if seated towards the back or the middle of the plane the view is partly obscured by the wing. I've found it to be the opposite. You want to be seated as near the back as possible for shots out of a Rapide. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7323/26779206292_215b9d881b_h.jpg Figh...

Re: Duxford photo shoot (hotel not included)...
Expensive, yes. You are not wrong. However... There appears to be hints at flying, that's not going to be cheap, plus the sunrise and sunset shoots will be out of hours at Duxford (sunrises are cool at Duxford, backlighting is perfect, early evening the light is also terrific), potentially meaning e...
