Re: Flying Legends 2021 - 10th & 11th July (Provisional)

As someone who didn't pay attention to the politics from the fallout of Duxford vs Flying Legends, can you tell me, please. Where does the view Duxford wanted the summer slot to themselves come from? Has that been widely known in the Duxford show/member going community that Duxford wanted their own ...

Fair point, actually. Never even crossed my mind, I am so used to Duxford being the home of Legends.

Flying Legends 2021 - 10th & 11th July (Provisional)

A message from Nick Grey, “Further to my last message informing you all of the pending relocation of Flying Legends I wanted to give you an update. The FL team is working very hard to secure an alternative location to hold the much loved Flying Legends airshow. IF we are successful and COVID 19 iss...

Re: Possible format for RIAT2021

It would work for smaller shows like Shuttleworth.

The biggest show in the World? Not a chance. The traffic in and out of RIAT can be a nightmare, and many use shuttle buses or camp. Now try that with only car access getting in and out of Fairford and 100,000 people?

Never happening.

Thanks guys, decided to contact hotel and see if I could get a refund, they will let me re-book for another date at no extra cost, as will the flights thankfully. Had the older covid restrictions been in place I would have been more comfortable but with the tightening of them I just will rebook the ...

Bah, gutted but kinda expected. Anyway, I am now left with the choice of if I should travel or not. My hotels are non refundable so I will take a loss for the weekend as well as train tickets. Don't really want to be stuck at Stansted for 3 days with nothing to do. :/ If, like it looks Covid is risi...

Just heard that too. Pushing back testing of large crowds. Looks like it will be, but will wait for conformation from Duxford. Going by Boris' past announcements they end up contradicting themselves. A lot of what he announced Duxford have in place like Track and Trace and social distancing enforcem...

I've probably been the most optimistic person on this thread, possibly to much of your annoyances lol but I am resigned to the fact it is going to get scrapped too. I might be wrong and they get away with going ahead under charitable/educational but I don't think so. I had thought I would still trav...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

I'm coming up from London on the Friday. To avoid using the tube for long periods of time (over an hour from Heathrow to Liverpool Street) I am paying a bit extra to use the Heathrow express and its only a few stops from Paddington to Liverpool Street and then Stansted Express. I have to admit the t...

Please read the IWM's small print as well, as it now states that if the weather is bad, they will close all the hangers to stop people taking shelter and bunching up. Enjoy! Their email says something slightly different. Hangars will be closed when they reach capacity. Not closed altogether if rain...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Blenheim won't be flying. Too expensive to run for just this one show. There is a long standing agreement between the IWM and the companies on site that they will fly aircraft at IWM organised air shows, it's just that the Blenheim is a very expensive aircraft to maintain and fly and it is just not ...

It is quite quiet this year, but due to Covid not as many displays are flying. I did think we would have gotten an update last week with 1 month to go, and then thought today with 21 days to go. But nope. There are apparently a few more displays to be added. But it does seem very quiet this year. I ...

I will just be doing the Duxford airshow weekend, which is my 2020 holiday. Had hoped to go to France, but with the quarantine I didn't book and their September show was cancelled anyway.

Though right now I consider a day out of town a holiday.

Catalina should be all 3 days according to their FB. The problem this year is a lot of displays got mothballed for the year. No worked up display or PDA. Crews were unable to work on their aircraft for around 3 months or more meaning maintenance is well behind and lack of revenue from airshows also ...

I'm wondering what shows she is talking about? I mean outside of Fairford, and Cosford then there really is only Duxford that has the big air field type show. I guess you could put Farnborough in that short list too, but its really lost its appeal over the last few shows to the public. Are they comp...
