Re: Midlands Air Festival 2024 (31 May - 2 June)

2024 will be my first visit to MAF and will be my wife’s once a decade airshow. We are going on Saturday and I’ll not be able to employ my usual airshow tactic of arriving as the gates open and then going to sleep for an hour! I would be grateful if any previous visitors can advise on ease of entry...

Re: Old Buckenham Airshow - 27th & 28th July 2024

The whole act is pointless. The vast majority of terrorist attacks in the last few years have been on the streets and with vehicles or knives. Not a single one has been at an organised event - even Manchester was in the publicly accessible foyer of the venue. The Home Affairs Committee a few months ...

Re: Duxford Diary 2024

It's buried at the back of AAM. It won't be going anywhere without taking down all of the glass wall and virtually emptying the building - the B-52 takes up most of the width. That's the F-4J(UK) - the Phantom FGR2 is in the Battle of Britain Hangar - right by the doors in the north west corner, it...

Re: Old Buckenham Airshow - 27th & 28th July 2024

Utterly pointless for such a miniscule threat. Another pinch point with lots of people gathering, perfect if you want to commit an attack. The Manchester attack was in a publicly accessible area, bag searches wouldn't have prevented it.

Be interesting to see if other venues go for similar measures.

NZ2308 should make its debut at Warbirds Over Wanaka before being shipped off to the US.

Another US bound aircraft is the Hawker Demon that has been based at Shuttleworth until recently.

Re: Duxford Diary 2024

Mmmmm... an immersive experience. The confusing part, I am easily confused, is that if the LWH is no good from an environmental point of view, how long will the old hangars last!? Mustn't rush to judgement, the new Lab might be an amazing place. 10 years to see if it comes to fruition. The LWH has ...

It looked like a good attendance for last week's one. I couldn't make the aviation talk, but my wife and I did the Swiss Gardens tour in the afternoon - just the two of us and the guide - and that was very interesting as well.

Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?

I wish the museum well, it would be wonderful to see the last Beverley saved and moved to Solway, however 60 grand in these hard times is not going to be easy to find from donations. We only have to look at how little was raised to move the Sea Vixen from VL to Bournemouth recently to see that. I a...

I doubt it. Any military participation won’t be announced for a couple of months or so yet.
37 announced so far. That's pretty good by anyone's standards, and there's still 5 months to go.
