Re: Flying Legends to cease at Duxford

Reading between the lines of the IWM press release, I would say that they wanted more money flowing back to them than TFC were willing to pay. They talk of exciting changes to their own Air Show programme for next year... Also, sounds like somewhere else found Covid to be a very good reason / excuse...

Re: Flying Legends to cease at Duxford

I have a feeling this is all down to the IWM.

They have apparently been angling for a long while for all airshows to cease on the site.

A big shame - where else can the show go?

North Weald has been suggested, but is, I think a non-starter because of the closeness of the M11.

very nice Dan, and as Peter aid above - that cloud certainly made for some good backgrounds

which zone were you in BTW?

Thanks Andy,

We were in Zone A - about 6/7 rows back from the front. Still a very good view though!

Shuttleworth's 2nd Drive-in show

August 2nd saw The Shuttleworth Collection host their second drive-in airshow. The participation list was late coming out, but that didn't stop the show being a sell-out, and those in attendance were treated to a cracking display. The highlights for me were the BAE Jetstream, displayed so well by Do...

Re: Get on your Trike- the TriStar and RAF Tristar

These were taken by my Dad at either Heathrow or Gatwick Airport during August / September 1981 (I would have been 4 1/2 so probably a little early for me to have been able to see over the side of the old car park!). This aircraft was later purchased by the RAF and registered as ZE704. https://live....

Just saw what looked like 4 contrails heading over Colchester - anyone know what they were / are?

They were high up - and I was driving at the time (hence the question!)

Thanks

Re: Your favourite image from 2019

I've chosen this one, of one of my favourite aircraft types - the Dakota / DC-3. Taken at the Daks over Duxford event, which even though it failed to live up to all the hype, and had many, many documented problems will still live long in the memory banks... https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/480377...

I’ve not really noticed a drop in quality - I have however noticed a massive drop in terms of the number of views that images get, post 1000 photo limit implementation and the other changes...

Norfolk, which is the neighbouring county to Suffolk.

Depending on where in the UK the original poster lives, parts of Norfolk could be a lot closer to Lakenheath / Mildenhall

It wasn’t moving as such, but was in the process of a high power run, so there was movement in the airframe.

Shuttleworth's July evening show

On the 20th July, whilst there was another small airshow taking place in the Cotswolds, The Shuttleworth Collection held their 2nd Evening airshow of the season - this one entitled "Flying For Fun". The weather forecast leading up to weekend suggested windy conditions, wall to wall cloud, ...

I am not really a cricket fan but did get quite excited about yesterday. I have a question for someone more knowledgeable on the subject: On the last ball NZ needed 2 runs to win but only got 1 so drew and we won on the number of boundaries scored. I thought that if someone was run out on the secon...

Reikan FoCal Software

Morning,

Has anyone purchased Reikan FoCal AF Micro Adjustment software, or have any experience of using it?

I'm thinking of buying it, but want a "real world" review to go by!!
