Re: Air Shows 2024
Just as well you don't live in Cornwall, old chum. That's the way of life or many of us. As a Redruh man travelling the better part of 700 miles over the weekend I second those sentiments. However, a visit to Old Warden is always worthwhile. Enjoyed Sunday, rubbish drive back through drizzle on Mon...

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2023 - 16th & 17th September
Thanks for all the good advice. I would add to the above that you need to be prepared for a lot of walking. The site itself is quite large and the car park is normally on the north side of the airfield. To get from the car park to the display line is a fairly long uphill walk over the bridge and th...

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread
[ Felt really sorry for them this year due to the weather and sticking the tent miles away in green. I feel like they should be slap bang in the middle of the showground every year. Glad I got to see them at Cosford. [/quote] I was very grateful for the Jordanian tent in Green on Saturday afternoon ...

Re: Cosford 2023 thoughts and views?
The orange barriers need to have far far far more crossing points. It felt like you were doing a 5K just trying to navigate to the crowdline from the showground. It is unacceptable, i have no mobility issues at all and i thought it was a struggle at points. I suppose the problem is if you leave a g...

Re: RIAT 2023 wish list
Seeing as the RN Merlin is out and about this year (so it seems and with no Yeovilton also), even though i'm not that much of a chopper fan, it'd be great to see one display at RIAT. Love the sound and presence of it! I initially assumed it was an error, and that it would be a Merlin HM2 rather tha...

Perhaps more galling is the fact our own Harriers could have been kicking around for another ten years easily.

Re: Vintage Airshow September 4th
Keeping the section between the hangars and the airfield clear of cars is great for a lot of people, especially if you have young children. That might be fine if the weather is fair but one of the great advantages of Shuttleworth for me was the chance to retreat to your car to shelter from a passin...

Other than the three HHA contracted examples I can't remember the last time I saw another Hunter flying in the UK, must be seven years ago - Culdrose? Slightly depressing.

Yes the one that was crashed at Shoreham flew into Culdrose about a fortnight before that fatal day

Loved it, Friday walked the static, Saturday in the grandstand and Sunday in the Cotswold Club. Have to agree with the comments re the QRA display, outstanding. Just one request for next year to Air Ops - Peter, can you turn the thermostat down a couple of notches 21,22, 23 would be fine Oh and how ...

I liked the Black Eagles as well! One criticism though - the commentary music; arrrggghhh!!!

Being ancient 70+ I can never understand why loud, heavy metal music is needed for a display item. To me it totally distracts from a display. I`d much rather hear the engine/s jet or prop.

why not just make it blanket over the radio so people who want to can tune in and have less speakers? Absolutely agree. I like the commentary through the radio as you can choose to tune in or not. You can also adjust the volume to your liking or turn off and enjoy the engine sounds, particularly th...

Re: FRIAT tickets and others, Any news when they are out?
Forgive my ignorance, I go to my orders and can only see the tickets for 2021. I know this was a roll-over from last year so is it these ones to download or do I need to wait for the 2022 ones? I am not a FRIAT member, just standard tickets. Thanks for your help in advance! Click on the download an...

Re: 5th June - Jubilee Flying Circus
I agree it's a nice line up but pretty price at £42 a ticket, add in fuel costs etc and your topping £100 for the show. Yes, not good is it. It's going to take a while, next April, for the pension to catch up with 'normal' inflation never mind items like this which are not counted in the CPI. I rea...

Can never have too many spitfires or hurricanes.elterwater wrote: ↑Wed 27 Apr 2022, 12:47 pmIt'll just end up being one of the fighters doing a couple of quick passes and disappearing off again.
Because that's exactly what a place like Shuttleworth is missing, a Spitfire or Hurricane on show

Re: Abingdon Air(show) & Country Show 2021
From the Abingdon Facebook page :- Neil (the Main Organiser) is heavily planning the 2021 show since late August, and a Press Release was released with first details recently. A question that needs to be asked is: If the 2021 show has to adapt to being a 'drive in' style show, meaning the downscale ...

This has hit me more than expected, but it's really really heartwarming to have crumbs of 2021 airshows put before us. I acknowledge that there's a long road ahead, and much is still uncertain, but it's just bloody fantastic to see. Wessex flying display is bloody top! Nice one Tommy I agree entire...

Hi all. Not wishing to sound like a broken record, but has anyone had a refund yet? Cheers. Yes, mine went into my bank on 6th. of this month. Not sure how they are dealing with them as far as order goes, possibly as they were purchased. Mine was rolled over from the May show which in turn was purc...

I agree entirely with the comments above, it was a superb afternoon and evening. The use of a radio instead of the pa system was a stroke of genius and I understand that it is likely to continue with the pa system being used only at the beginning and for any special announcements. I was fortunate to...
