Re: RAF Finningley Airshow 1982

Yep, Finningley '81 would have been held in September, Falklands War was April - June '82.

I would suggest these shots are from different years.

Re: RAF Finningley Airshow 1982

I know this an old post but I can confirm that this is the '81 airshow...have a look at this video which I just converted from an old cine film I have Skip to 1m10s... m How can it be the 1981 show when there's Argentinian stuff on display. I thought that Huey became G-HUEY after it was captured of...

Re: BBC Website stand by their inaccurate Shoreham diagram !

I've got an idea, instead of getting upset every time you listen to/ watch on TV/ read in a newspaper a piece of journalism, why not just ignore it and move on. By your own admission, complaining is not doing any good so forget it.
All this anger towards the press is making yourselves ill.

Re: Greatest random sightings?.

My two best randoms are....1947 Roswell, saw some weird stuff fly over, then I was out for a walk in Rendlesham Forest in 1980. Whoa, would seriously like to hear about what you saw, but I'm assuming you're not allowed to discuss it. Are you ex US military? Actually forget that, that's probably off...

Re: Battle of Britain Day Commemoration at Goodwood

It is generally regarded the 11 Group, Fighter Command were the main defenders during the Battle of Britain and the furthest west that they were based was Middle Wallop in Hampshire. We should remember that, whilst there were other skirmishes in other parts of Britain during the summer of 1940, it ...

Re: Steering issue

What I don't figure, is why do people still read the Daily Mail, whether online or via the paper itself, and then be shocked over how they report the 'news' ? With all the people who point out the failings of the paper on here, I'm constantly surprised that they continually to read such stuff. Simp...

Re: airshow/aircraft car window stickers

Birders stopped putting birding stickers up years ago as it was basically a direct message to the criminal classes saying "expensive optics in this car." (RSPB stickers don't count as every robin stroker has one but thinks Tesco bins are just as good as Swarovski. Car break-in specialists...

I would argue the 'press' would choose this site to get their meaty stories.
If I were a journo., I'd be going to a site with people who actually have knowledge of such subjects.

Re: How we react to fatal accidents

I fully understand that our instinct and curiosity will always cause us to speculate. What I don't understand is the need to share it on a forum Some on here would give the answer 'it's an aviation forum so I'm entitled to speculate and give everyone my 'expert' opinion'. The real answer is, of cou...

Re: How we react to fatal accidents

[quote="melvyn hiscock"] Various members of various forii will clamour to be the first to post the news with unseemly haste whilst justifying the action with the, in my view, rather pathetic words 'Blue Skies' Although fortunately the 'Blue Skies' cliche seems to be making less of an appea...

Re: How we react to fatal accidents

What I find a strange reaction on UKAR is the selective nature of members when paying tribute to those that have died in crashes.
Not a single offer of condolence to any of the flight crew/passengers who tragically lost their lives in other accidents over the weekend.

This tweet has an aerial view of the crash site, really doesn't look good for those on board m I don't understand 'Vodka's' determination for the reg to remain a secret though? Because he's applying a little bit of common sense. If you can identify the aircraft, you can find out who owns it, put 2+...

I was in park and view Monday, and met a gentleman and his family who would make sure they were not getting in the way of other people's shots. This is the way it should be . Maybe I'm looking at it from a different perspective and interpreting what you're saying incorrectly , but why should they h...

So what's the definition of a 'war bird'? I'd assumed it was a type of aeroplane that had flown in the war?

Met an old friend who'd come down from Huddersfield, which I think is the same neck of the woods.
He said he left at 3am and was straight to on base at 6.40, including 2 toilet stops. Think he said he went down the M6.

Re: RIAT 2015

Whilst walking round the static, noticed a urine bag/catheter on the floor (near the KC135). If anyone lost it, I picked it up and have got it. Let me know if it's yours.
