Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

The defining factor is going to be how much reheat this new display uses. The F-35B has a range of c1,035 mile - it's c. 240 miles there and back from RAF Marham in a straight line without accounting for fuel use in the hover, airspace transit and holding.etc.etc. That leaves in very basic terms 800...

Northolt Nightshoot March 2024 - 30 not out!

Hi all, A cold and a bit blowy last night but it was great to see it so well attended and to catch up with many of you. The event was also well attended by a sizeable chunk of the current UKAR Staff team plus some old faces too - not often do you find us all in one place! Here's a few shots of mine,...

Just a note of thanks to Phil for arranging another successful event.
It was also good of the base commander to spend time with everyone too.

Thanks

Re: Slow, server problems?

I would say that historically we did have a member of staff that was found to be banning people or editting peoples posts that they did not agree with. When this was discovered action was taken to stop that. They have however not been involved with the UKAR Forums for a significant period of time. T...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

The Firecat is a really lovely little gem. Midnight Hawks are lovely too. As awesome as the F-18C is from them, for the sake of variety, it’s nice to have that team back. With them, the Reds, and rumoured Saudis, it’s nice to see so many legacy Hawks in the air for the (unofficial) Hawk 50th year. ...

Another one: today I couldn't find the off-topic forum while I wasn't logged in. Only after logging in it appeared. Is this something new that will be forever or something that went wrong?

Farewell Belgian F-16 Solo

I know F-16s have recently been a weekly topic but.... With confirmation this evening that the Belgian F-16 solo display has officially ended, lets celebrate this stalwart of the European Airshow Scene since 1980 - it leaves a big hole to fill. Belgian Air Force Days 2023 - A bit late

Hi All, Back in September I spent an enjoyable weekend in the company of fellow staffer Gordon (Skyflash) and others in Belgiam for what we hope is not the last Belgian Air Force days. A wonderful venue and scorching heat meant we all enjoyed ourselves immensely even if a few cameras overheated! Ta ...

Central Coast Air Fest 2022

Evening all, Way back in 2022 I spent an enjoyable day at the Central Coast Air Fest - a private show on the California coast that had more military participation than the entire of the Edwards AFB Show the day before! Just a shame it was facing in to the sun! Ta Andy https://live.staticflickr.com/6...

Re: MCAS Miramar Airshow 27-29 September 2024

Looking at some of the pictures from 2022, they are on Alamy if any wants to look, it appears that the tables are infant of the grandstand but there are people standing by the fence line infront of the tables. Are they just people who have stood up from the tables (or even grandstand). ie you have ...

Re: MCAS Miramar Airshow 27-29 September 2024

As with all US shows, you have to pay for a good view otherwise you are off to the left or right of the showground. I would suggest going for one of the tables with an umbrella as you get more space and some shelter - the sun can be epic. Miramar is the biggest US military airshow so the showground ...

Re: RIAT 2024 wishlist.

Patrouille Suisse please, oh and a static pair of Swiss F-5E/F-5F would go down nicely. Considering reports 2024 or maybe 2025 are their final ever display seasons - it would be great to see them one last time. The team are only funded to 2025. The Swiss have ruled out re-equipping with F-35s and a...
