Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Bah, gutted but kinda expected. Anyway, I am now left with the choice of if I should travel or not. My hotels are non refundable so I will take a loss for the weekend as well as train tickets. Don't really want to be stuck at Stansted for 3 days with nothing to do. :/ If, like it looks Covid is ris...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Got it from their website. You do have to click through a few links for it. I agree, its not a very friendly website. Here is Sat/Sun flying list - https://www.iwm.org.uk/airshows/duxford-battle-of-britain-airshow/flying-list And here is the Proms Friday flying list - https://www.iwm.org.uk/airshow...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Friday display looks a bit better to me than the Saturday and Sunday displays so far, though I assume (And hope) more will be added soon. Friday Flying Display - Spitfires Spitfire Mk.Ia N3200 Spitfire Mk.Ia X4650 Spitfire Mk.Ia AR213 Spitfire T9 PT462 Spitfire T9 PV202 Spitfire Mk.PRXI PL983 Spitf...

Re: BBMF Lancaster

Does anyone know what the flypast was for? Can't find any reason online, and nothing mentioned on any of the BBMF's various social media accounts as far as I can see. Might have to wait until the aircrew post on their accounts. Yep, I looked up the usual sources & as there didn't seem to be much in...

Just remembered... Thomas Dolby - Flying North Metal bird dip wing of fire Whose airlanes comb dark Earth The poles are tethers we were born in On the brink of a whole new deal On the floor of a hotel bar I'm staring right into the light And I'm drawn in like a moth And I'm flying North again... Re: Aircraft music?

No one's mentioned, Five Miles Out by Mike Oldfield I read somewhere that it was originally about Amelia Earhart's fateful journey in her Lockheed Electra hence the artwork to the record sleeve. But an alternative story appears on Wikipedia that he had a near fatal airplane flight. Other suggestions...

Re: Aircraft music?

Redshift - from the album Ether: the track "Bombers in the Dessert" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTJcfEDywVA with an appropriate aviation video. I think the track is inspired by cold war bombers in the Boneyard. Edgar Froese "Macula Transfer" - all the tracks were composed on flights and titled ...

Re: IWM Flying Festival

I know a lot of us were looking at losing out on money over our hotels , so hopefully this is alright to post. Premier Inn are offering full refunds on stays before 31st May. m Booked with Premier in Reading for RIAT this year on the lower rate, that they normally charge if you want to cancel. Canc...

Re: 2020 tickets

You make a fair comment. I had the experience recently where on buying tickets through ticketmaster I bought an overseas event ticket with parking option. The event ticket came through a few days before travelling but the car park didn't which caused unnecessary hassle due to the lack of time to so...

Re: 2020 tickets

I know I will get my tickets before the show, so no point waiting until I get the ticket in my inbox to book everything else. Try booking your hotel when the tickets are sent out. I promise you will pay at least £250+ more for the weekend then, than you would now. Edit: Do you mean how come he has ...

Re: 2020 tickets

I've been booking these etickets for the past ten years. This year I managed to book the hotel & purchase the tickets within the same day, but this is the first time that I have had to pay up front for tickets which I won't receive until two weeks before the show. I have always printed off my &...

You're getting me worried now, how come you have your ticket already? RIAT for 2020 are sending out tickets two weeks before the show, first time in my experience. How can people book hotels in advance when they haven't actually recieved tickets. Am I missing something? Is there something I don't k...

... or in the case of RIAT, Alexandra Burke. I've got my ticket already and if they had a multi future year option, I'd probably get that too. It's RIAT. It's unique as far as global airshows go and always has one or two things not seen recently, or indeed before, with the rest a solid days aviatio...

The first manoeuvre of Brian Smith's display in MH434 was something I don't ever recall seeing a spitfire doing, expecting the standard loop or half Cuban it was in fact something akin to what the Bearcat can do in the climb. Or am I talking nonsense? Also does anyone know what the orchestral versi...

Yes there are plenty of bike racks to the left of the main visitor entrance as you go in.
