Re: Scampton Airshow 2018
Can't believe all the discussion. Simple summary of 2017: 1. Ticket prices were too high, in so far as they did not offer value for money when comparing the flying display to other alternatives; 2. The quality of the flying display was poor. This had nothing to do with a lack of effort from DBH - i...

You answered that earlier in your own post:

Oil spill 727 added to flying and Excell Piper Navrajo added to static. A good addition, has the 727 displayed at Cosford with the Blades in formation - pity the blades are at Sanicole... Still hoping for a USAF flypast of some sort, but it is getting a little late. I don't think there is any sign ...

3 of them displayed at waddo for £25... plus way more. They're static for £40? Knock yourself out.

Update: We're almost doubling the number of aircraft at the show with this update, and there is still more to come! Taking to the skies the Bronco Demo Team will be displaying the Vietnam-era OV-10B Bronco, piloted by Tony de Bruyn. BAE Systems will also be displaying their beautiful 1930s multi-en...

Another disappeared XH558 topic, I see. Presumably some serious handbagging went on this morning which merited it ? Given the informative posts and discussions it contained, will it be cleaned up and resurrected or - like it's predecessors - has it been hoofed into the dark recesses never to be see...

Re: Has Northolt Station Flight Disbanded?
Well, in theory: You no longer employ the personnel for that task or have to maintain the equipment so that drives your costs down or frees up personnel for other tasks. Also, as the contracts are put out to tender the competition should drive down the price and force the contractors to seek other ...

Re: uk maritime surveillance aircraft
And the Nimrod is being replaced. So, non story. It is a huge capability gap of 10 years though, especially when the Government said Hercules, Merlins and Frigates could handle the role, which has obviously been proven this was not the case. The merlins were only supposed to replace the search and ...

Re: RAF Scampton Air Show 2017
Well I'm going both days because I got both tickets along with the RIAT ones early on. I sincerely want it to be a success but I feel a cloud of disappointment at the current line up. The report of the RAF finding the time and money to put up a six-ship of Tornados for a Families Day proves that th...

Re: What is it with the USAF?
I would have thought security plays a part. Bigger crowds create a bigger risk of incident. They have everything they need at the base anyway, so why rush in/out with loads of people around. US assets are certainly more appealing to trouble makers than those of, say, Switzerland or New Zealand.

Re: RAF Scampton Air Show 2017
I spoke to some guys at RIAT about Scampton and mentioned to them that I was enthusiastic about the show despite some of the bad press they'd had. They seemed pretty exhausted and, frankly, a bit uninterested in Scampton. When I mentioned to them how much i'd love to see the Norwegian Starfighter t...

No surprise - the avionics and weapon systems have serious issues, and they're fed up of paying money for stuff that doesn't work. Next!

One thing that surprise`s me is that there is no participation from Waddington .. yet. I had assumed this was a cert based on a certain logic (??) that it was previously held at Waddington. Ah, no actually, I don't think the Scampton Airshow has ever been held at Waddington.... Just to clarify, the...

Re: F16 / Su27 buzz over the Baltic
I'm sure the F-16 pilot realised it was armed by the noises his RWR made rather than the Russian pilot 'dipping his wings'... These incidents should be eased off a bit or some might have to take tricky decisions they'd rather not. The RWR would have only triggered if the Su-27 had activated its Rad...
