Re: RIAT 2019

one thing i still dont understand is the change DBH did for the Saturday flying display. When the PC-9M was cancelled it was normal for either the tucano or tutor to replace it. But with the Italian typhoon... It was due to display Sat and Sun but ended up being on the flying schedule on Fri and Su...

Re: RIAT 2019

The best RAF Typhoon display I’ve seen in ages. I thought it was the Italian before hearing the commentary. Does anyone know why that’s not displaying today?

If Totterdown’s full by the time you get down, I’m sure Lakeview will still be allowing pedestrians entry.

Mig-21 on much earlier in the day than on the programme apparently- around 12. The M346 will also be displaying today.

Re: RIAT 2019

Has the T-346 always been down as Friday and Sunday only? I hope there's a chance it can fill in for the PC9 on the Saturday (not that Saturday needs any filling up) - great aircraft and a very elegant display.

There's a great path from Lechlade to the base through the fields and woods underneath the flight path. Perfect for walking or cycling.

Re: RIAT 2019

Other than the flypast (and I guess the Harrier duo becoming a Harrier solo which isn't even confirmed) are there really any major differences between Saturday and Sunday? These ARE major differences... that’s the problem. I guess if you’re not into aircraft or air shows, then it’s not an issue. 'O...

Re: RIAT 2019

I finally looked at the participation so far and I'm struggling to see what people are complaining about. The Harrier Duo and the Mig 21 (admittedly not yet confirmed) are star items even in relation to the last few years, while the Daedalus team is a very rare item I'm looking forward to.

Do we even know whether international participants were invited this year? My thinking was that with the RAF100 theme, they decided to focus specifically on domestic/British types?

So has there been any word regarding potential rescheduling for the Atlantique and Mig-21 slots? I know the likelihood is that the display order will just move up without replacement but I'm hoping something can be done!

Is this actually on the cards or are you just hoping? Loved the show last year and will probably go again if another fast jet is booked.

Strangely not on the Typhoon calendar although I presume it will operate out of Biggin for Eastbourne.

Re: Biggin Hill 2017

If I'm being honest I thought the last paragraph was unfair. That was one of the best UK shows put on this year, and anyone that expected the full atmosphere of the airshows of old had unrealistic expectations. Also thought the failure to mention the Gripen display or the solo Spitfire closer on the...

Re: Biggin Hill 2017

Hopefully the coordination with Eastbourne (and Herne Bay? Don't know next year's date) becomes a regular fixture as it surprisingly added a lot seeing the Typhoon and F16 take off twice! On Saturday both did run and breaks to land too.

Does anyone know departure times tomorrow?

Does anyone know whether display items will be practising tomorrow? I know the F16/PdF had practises/validations today so was wondering if we'd see the Czechs do the same?

When are the Patrouille de France arriving? I know they have a validation at Biggin on the Thursday and a display in France on Saturday.

Re: Biggin Hill 2017

The Breitling Jet Team's full display requires a lower ceiling.
Interestingly the F16 and Typhoon are also on around that 12-2 slot at Eastbourne (last time I checked) so I suspect they'll be doing both displays in one flight.

Does anyone know whether the F16 will be operating from Biggin Hill?

The Rafale was definitely the best display of the year (I'm pretty [*sure - don't want to ruin the joke] it's won that award a few times since its debut already).
