Re: RIAT 2020

Evening All, Just wanted to correct some misinformation given by other forum members on the previous page about the new south-west operational area which was announced in Paul's email yesterday. The plan for RIAT 2020 is fundamentally different to previous occurrences which used bays on the north of...

Re: RIAT 2020

Thank you for the kind words on previous pages. I have been lucky to have had an excellent handover period with Tom, and the awesome Air Operations team have been doing a stellar job over the last few months preparing for RIAT 2020. This year's themes give us two exciting areas of military aviation ...

Re: RIAT 2018: Thoughts & feedback!

It was a let down, is the truth. This year had been massively hyped up, be it by DBH, by ourselves, by the general expectation. Talk of big updates, so much coming into the office that updates would need to be done as and when a month beforehand, parking off base needing to be implemented because o...

Re: RIAT 2018: Thoughts & feedback!

Does anyone else feel that the whole RAF 100 part of the static park just didn't feel like the centenary party it should have done? Now i dont blame DBH here, they can only put on what they are offered. But i do think that some tweets put out by some within the organisation about visits, working vi...

Re: RIAT 2018: Thoughts & feedback!

God knows we didn't need a whole extra day of arrivals, even before the cancellations, nor was the Friday show anything at all. Simply a third day of the exact same show, it felt pretty unnecessary. There's a lot in this post that I don't agree with but I don't have the energy to reply to most of i...

Re: RIAT 2018: Thoughts & feedback!

Any idea what happened with the tiger paints Tom? Tiger Puma no show considering its the RAF 100 marked aircraft was very disappointing. Tiger Typhoon and Tornado from Germany, I know we lost one TLG51 Tornado, so maybe they planned to send it, but the Germans have been good in recent years? A litt...

Re: RIAT 2018: Thoughts & feedback!

Like wise I still don’t understand why if the Spanish Matadors(Harriers)were in the country and at Farnborough then why they couldn’t be approached by DBH to attend RIAT,or at least fly in and display and then return to Farnborough? A lot of effort over the last few years has gone into trying to se...

Re: RIAT 2018: Thoughts & feedback!

The tree lined static area back in use with the F16's and the Flanker lined up, excellent. Not quite sure why the An2 was lumped in there but I was grateful for the backdrop. Why was a very rare Estonian AF An-2 positioned where it was? One man's trash is another man's treasure I guess .............

I am a very mild mannered guy and understand there are a multitude of reasons why things are as they are. I can accept pretty much everything has a reason and have trust in DBF that they will do what they can to make RIAT a great experience for everyone.. BUT... (Sorry, meant to say 'However' , 'bu...

No point complaining to the bell-ends at RIAT, Nice. Two weeks of my life, over a week of my annual leave taken up....you’re welcome. Flypasts like that of the B-2 are often far more complex to arrange and handle than it might appear from the outside. Thanks for all your hard work Gonzo, appreciate...

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion

I am speechless ringt now, excellent work DBH Indeed a lovely catch, but weren't we just saying the other day that it's the air forces that decide what to send, not DBH... Every time I see RIAT Air Ops post here I am suddenly reminded that however important this show is to us (and truly it is the real highlight of my year) there are people who sweat blood over it and it really brings home how much, I suppose, we ought to appreciate what we're about to see. Imagine, f...

Not to disrespect anyone that asks questions in here, but perhaps before the 2019 show we can create an FAQ sticky with input from users, which we can direct people to, and users can also be required to read before posting in the RIAT subforum. An example is the "what can we expect on X day&qu...

It’s pretty sad that Tom has had to come on here and seemingly apologise. The show is looking epic again and people are taking it for granted. Re: Display line distance

Its normal now sadly. Post Shoreham regulations have pushed the display line out further. Incorrect, there's been no change at all. Haven't done the Llandudno show and I'm certainly no expert with regard to seaside shows but if you consider a curved bay such as that at Llandudno then there's clearl...

If we flew everything each day you'd have circa 9 hours of flying each day + added times for sorties leaving to go elsewhere and recover i.e. RAFAT. Not good for fatigue on all fronts.
