Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Evening All, To correct two earlier posts, there were no validations undertaken on the Friday of RIAT 2022 for any participating aircraft, nor will they be this year. To recap on some earlier comments... A great offering from QinetiQ, but the DA-42 escapes again! We did ask! But a splendid showing o...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

I visited the F-5s in December and I suggested they bring them back to RIAT some time - I guess I must've been very persuasive! Or, more likely that our invitation letter to the Spanish Air Force Commander which specifically requested the SF-5M participation, the accompanying participation guide, o...

Re: FRIAT 2024

Evening All, I spoke with Wendy today, all is in hand and she's just refreshing the FRIAT members area on the website. The login details should be sent out to all FRIAT members who have booked their seats for RIAT 2024 next week. This email will also included the details of the upcoming FRIAT Forum....

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Christ, plenty of unnecessary doom and gloom on here recently... Well the thinking of reducing frequency is that you might get better participation when you do have a show. Rather than mediocrity every year, have something much better every second. I have to disagree, and I think that running the sh...

Re: Non-Existent Customer Support from RIAT and/or RAFCTE

It has been raised and discussed internally and I believe the original poster's issue has been sorted now. There are a myriad of factors but it's not my place to discuss on a public forum. However, I would ask you all to remember than RAFCTE is not a huge commercial conglomerate with hundreds of sta...

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

Evening All, Having dried out, and just about caught up on sleep, I thought I'd take a read back of the comments and reply to a few which jumped out at me. Does anyone know the operator of that smart looking 737(?) that took off a while ago? The Boeing Company themselves. Once again the wheel is irr...

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

On the S.208s appearance, which I'm really pleased about having never seen one. I appreciate they have their painted up specials, I think at least four I've seen pictured together, could they be persuaded that the two they bring include one standard camo aircraft as well as one special, not to be r...

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

Thinking about the Swedes and the A-4 last year, do you plan for certain exotics to arrive on the Friday so maximum numbers of people can see them “live”, or is it just a by-product of the parking plan? Last year, yes we negotiated with the SwAFHF to plan the Friday arrival for that exact reason. T...

Evening All, Hopefully it won't run dry messing about with the Skyvan... Please, PLEASE take note of this Pete... I'm surprised just how much stuff is rendezvousing with the Skyvan nowadays. Hungarian Hinds, AMX, M346, even the A340 spent time posing. We've seen over recent RIATs a few aircraft arri...

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

DBH, I think, probably have far bigger things to concentrate on than the garbage opinions of tools on social media (and forums as the case may be, but I haven’t seen such opinions on here). Yup... :grimacing: RIAT could do with a few more set pieces. I wonder if those discussions have taken place? ...

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

To be honest, do we really need a theme? Yes there were some excellent items on static last year attributed to the training theme. AMX-T, MB339, A-4, Epsilons etc but there was no Chipmunk, Tiger Moth, Harvard, Alpha Jet etc on show, so not sure how far the theme was taken in attracting types? The ...

just wondering if that aircrew reception volunteers can choose to work for 1 volunteer day instead of choosing to work all of them? Unfortunately that's not how it works. Looking across to the north side at P&V east wasn't great either for taxy shots. Pleased to say that won't be an issue at RIAT 2023 as the USAF's $28 million project to renovate the North East Loop is now complete, replacing nearly 1.5km of taxiways and 11 ramps, along with installing a new dra...

Re: RIAT ATC

One question I had was why does everything need a follow me car even for the shortest distances? Down at the western end we were puzzled why pilots that had just taxied in from a runway would later on need a car to lead them to and from a parking spot a few metres from it. Part of our risk mitigati...
