Re: Swedish Air Force Historic Flight 2015 calendar

The Swedish Air Force Historic Flight will not be appearing at the RAF Cosford Air Show 2015. I assume we appear on their "calendar" because I did request a quote for them in the early stages of the flying display planning. Unfortunately the prices quoted even to just get one of the jets ...

Fennec is a little thin as a replacement for a classic jet.

Losing the Whirlwind is a bigger blow though.

Interesting. Clearly the Collection now happy to operate it from that end of the runway, which wasn't the case last season, given the lack of a run-off area.

My choice. Glad it was appreciated.

Re: RIAT 2015

£12 for a programme. Full of adverts and soft photographs. All wrapped up in a cover that would shame a 5 year old with a set of felt-tips. The same price as an advance ticket for Abingdon. Hang your heads, DBH. A rip-off that can not be defended. And, if Andy Armstrong does only one thing, please l...

Cosford was the rightful place for this airframe. Far more relevant to the collection than the current, fading, green example, which is already beginning to look an eyesore.

Re: Duxford May Show 2015

Smacks of a meeting which went along the lines of "OK, give them the Blenheim, Meteor and Mustang. That'll do. Now fill the rest up with any old guff."

Nearly double Abingdon's price, for a line-up half as good.

A lazy line-up, for crazy prices. That's Duxford for you.

Re: 2015 RAF Typhoon Special Tails... [Merged]

Please tell me the Spitfire flying with the Typhoon is in the same type markings? Would look amazing both in the same colours, would not like to see this typhoon with the silver spit! Silver Spit is now camo with D-Day markings. It's been practicing with the MkXVI, but yes, it really needs to be th...

XV208 "Snoopy" chopped up this week

Another historic airframe butchered, rather than preserved.

The link contains photographs of the cutting-up and aftermath...

Just passed over Hagley area headed towards, I imagine, Halfpenny Green for juice.

Re: Classic Air Force, Newquay - how's it doing?

The diner was another commercially bonkers idea, do you want to have a meal in a cramped 1960s airliner, overlooking a desolate runway or have a meal and drinks overlooking Newquay Harbour or perhaps, Watergate Bay, or Fistral Beach? Who really would have gone out of their way to eat in a VC-10? In...

the more I read and hear the more it would seem CAF really have (and will probably carry on doing) pulling the wool over people eyes!! Legally you're on a sticky wicket if you start accusing CAF of "pulling the wool over people (sic) eyes". Whatever happened, they clearly moved with the c...

Yes, because while those museum aircraft catch some sun for the first time in years, the world may end, pestilence and plagues of locusts may sweep across the fens and someone might not get an exclusive picture. Yes, heaven forbid someone other than ol' Bimbleina gets photographs of it outside... I...

I was critical of the show a few months ago when it seemed we were going to get another predictable line-up, but recent developments have been nothing short of excellent, and this is shaping up to be, for it's size, one of the best shows of the year.

Re: Monino Museum, Russia 11/8/12 (bit late....)

If only one the oligarchs, instead of buying up half of London and Monaco, would use some of their ill-gotten billions to build a national aviation museum to get some of these machines under cover. Can't imagine the Russian winters to a great deal for their long-term survival.
