Nice work Andy - some lovely skies to add drama to the set. Liked the close up of the cockpit side 'art' on the Typhoon.

Re: Another set from NNS XXXII
Nice selection of images. On the question about exposure times, after the first couple of times I attended these events with my DSLR, I quickly found that trading ISO for shutter speed meant that I no longer had to try and keep people away from my tripod to keep it still for 30 seconds. As such, sti...

Re: Antidotum Airshow Lezno 20th-21st June 2025
I did this show last year. I came away very happy with my shots - especially during sunset and dusk. A lot of civilian aeros, but for an afternoon/evening and night show, my gosh it was a fine variety with great pyros/lights. The dusk performance/flare drops of the Swiss Super Puma and the Polish F-...

Re: MCAS Yuma 15th March 2025
If you've not been to a USMC show before, leave plenty of time to get in and be processed as a non-US citizen. Be prepared to wear your special 'alien guest' lanyard at all times, and watch the snipers on the roof, poised to tag you if you step out of line. Other than that, Yuma shaping up to be a g...

Well good things come to an end, heading home today after some great days. Review coming soon (tm). After my first time seeing them with Super’s I’m still in love with the Blue Angels! Andy Really good to catch up with you at the show and for dinner on Saturday night at Famous Jimmy's by the harbou...

Re: FRIAT 2025 Renewals
Will be elsewhere next year. Thanks for the memories though... There is a big world out there beyond RIAT (FRIAT). Maybe time to spend more time at Totterdown. Probably time to re-engage with my other photographic passions too. Not interested in apps (can't get a signal on O2 after 9am on show days ...

Re: MCAS Miramar Airshow 27-29 September 2024
Thanks Berf... my friend and I land at LAX on Friday so will miss the U2... but got one at RIAT so no real hardship. I'll be interested to see the KC-135 demo. Likely to be a 'March' example, but the special Az ANG example (static at Luke show earlier this year) would be fabulous. Have a safe trip...

Re: RIAT 2025
And for all of the DAVE 'haters,' of which I am one, the USAF F-35A role demo is actually very good. Caught it at Yuma 2023 and at Luke 2024. The latter heightened the display further with the use of flares. Contentious as it is and well trodden discussion, the 'biggest military airshow in the world...

Re: MCAS Miramar Airshow 27-29 September 2024
Thanks for the update Berf... Whilst unexpected, the F-22 and P-38 appeared as a pair at El Centro show back in March and looked fabulous together. The pilot of the Raptor had plenty of 'play gas' (to quote the commentator) after starring at Yuma show down the road and went on to do their role demo ...

Be worth having a read of the info on the airshow website - especially as a non-US citizen/alien. Have your passport with you.

Re: MCAS Miramar Airshow 27-29 September 2024
Whilst it is a challenge physically, I usually go into US shows with my 5d around my neck fitted with 24-105mm for static, and my 7D2 fitted with 100-400mm over my shoulder. My body gives me a telling off at the end of a show day, but no gain without some pain! Might only take the 5d set up on one o...

Re: FRIAT Stand Location 2025
It is a bit of a deal breaker for me to be honest, mostly the moving back of the stand putting us further away in that sense. That and then the that it's currently (and quoting a previous post) 'open to interpretation' as to how the grassed area in front of the stand and who will be occupying it is ...

Re: Is the UK the best choice for the world's biggest military airshow?
Not being funny, but some of the cloudy skies across RIAT week both this year, AND last year made for superb photography. The only people missing out are the 'blue sky only' toggers, a party of which sat behind me in the FRIAT grandstand moaning about their images all being 'silhouettes.' When the c...

Prior to FRIAT, I was a Viewing Village customer from 2011 to 2017. Never had a bad experience in there and I used to make use of the garden seats (was actually deck chairs in 2011) in front of the grandstand. Would always recommend the Viewing Village to anyone not interested in Pimms, scones, perf...

Re: FRIAT 2024
Maybe it's not that important to be at crowd centre these days. Only the Black Cats and the RAF F-35B seemed to know where it was. Spanish Harrier certainly didn't on any of the show days. And the Red Arrows crowd rear arrival on Sunday completely caught out their camera-person on the Sunday!! As fo...

Re: Water water everywhere......
The coffee hut in FRIAT was prevented from selling their stock of bottled water due to the charming ban by RIAT on selling anything that had a sniff of 'single use plastic.' Some may say that's a good thing, and in general I would agree... But come on, it's a hot day... I want to buy some water... j...

Yep, I have tickets in the grandstand and it is first come, first served in there as to where you sit. So if you want the top row, get there nice and early.

Re: RIAT 2024 wishlist.
The 93rd standard tail art when they deployed to Lakenheath in 2019 was pretty enough to be fair. Puts a lot of other squadrons in the shade.
