Re: MCAS Miramar Airshow 27-29 September 2024

I am now hopefully attending this show. Flights, vehicle and accommodation all booked at least. Whilst I would never tire of seeing any Blue Angels action, I am really looking forward to the B-29 in the air (a first for me) and also the beefed up MAGTF demo - especially if there's another chance to ...

Re: MCAS Yuma '24

Yuma was good, though quieter than expected. Next year I'll have El Centro on my list, primarily for the Blue Angels as it seems to be one of the few venues they display at (and that I can get to) where the sun is behind you. Have to ask, as a 'regular' to El Centro over the last year. Where is 'Fa...

Re: MCAS Yuma '24

And Chris, a very nice set of images you bagged at Yuma as well. Love them all. Nice to see the Death Rattler Hornets and those F-5s! A splash of colour under the bin lid of the Wake Island Avengers F-35B as well in the hover.

Re: MCAS Yuma '24

Hi, yeah, El Centro was welcoming, warm, sunny and delivered some great flying. I shall start with the Static, walking through the entrance gate onto the base we were greeted by two VFA-122 Super Hornets kind of nose to nose. Elsewhere, off the top of my head there were no less than two C-47/C-53 Da...

Re: FRIAT 2024

We still go through the same security tent etc the only addition we create is the manning of the gate - from memory there is usually two squaddies there - is that really a concern to security esp as RIAT have our names, addresses, bank account details etc etc. Not defending nor am I representing th...

Hoping to attend this one... first time at this event. I did Radom (including the night show) last year and was very impressed.

Re: MCAS Yuma '24

Interesting set there. The VMX-1 Osprey special tail looks really nice. Saw it on the ramp later in the following week but not to photograph sadly. Would've been nice to see it airborne. We opted for El Centro show - much more relaxed by the look of things and also had a surprisingly good static too...

Re: Luke Days '24 ( Pic Heavy! )

Very nice images. It was a great show with lots of unexpected (to me) stuff across the static and great highlights in the flying. Definitely a show I would consider doing again in the future. Cost me a fortune in patches!!

Re: Northolt Nightshoot March 2024 - 30 not out!

Good to catch up with you at the event Andy... Nice selection of images there. As others have indicated, that A400 'whale tail' rear shot is actually pretty stunning. My one regret from the night was not going around that side to get it. Fingers crossed we get another opportunity in the future. Well...

Re: MCAS Yuma and Travis AFB shows, plus a bit of El Centro practice (pic heavy!)

You had a good trip there... We opted for El Centro in the end, and our trip included Travis show and finished Luke show. We were surprised at El Centro when the F-22 and P-38 did a heritage flight session for us. And then the F-22 did it's demo, though obviously without flares. We thought that was ...

Lovely stuff Roger... The KC-10 farewell moment will be poignant I am sure at Travis. Given that I understand on a sunny day we would be photographing into the sun, a cloudy but still flyable day is probably welcome in truth.

For the 50th anniversary of the F-16 the holy grail of F-16's would be the 64th Wing Ghost Aggressor right? One can dream! No that would be an XL, or a VISTA, or maybe a Venezuelan in that camo, or an Israeli in camo, or a Moroccan in camo, or a UAE F-16E or F, or maybe a ......... And why restrict...

Re: NAF El Centro Air Show 2024 - 9th March 2024 - Updated Info 01-03-24

Just to add further, from attending Yuma last year, the static was incredibly hard to shoot there due to the sheer number of people coralled into the general public area. So as tempting as the VX-9 Harrier is again, it's more likely I will get some nice shots of the NASA T-34 here at El Centro and t...

Re: NAF El Centro Air Show 2024 - 9th March 2024 - Updated Info 01-03-24

Thanks for that update with the static Roger. There's a Q&A for El Centro airshow about 5pm UK time today - I believe it is on faceache. In a sensational twist of fortune, the road trip I am on is now likely to do El Centro show now, especially if the weather is proper sunshine. The VFA-122 TAC ...

Nice work Andy. It was a great show, with some magic flying moments. My first proper Super Hornet vapour cone (with a decent camera anyway), and some sublime warbird flying with ample close topside opportunities. Even a Hercules water drop. The military on static was bonkers for a show of its actual...
