Re: Edwards AFB Airshow 2022

As an Edwards debutant (!!) this is going to be a show where I won't have a clue which way to look next!! And that's a good thing - aviation treats at every turn, in the air and on the ground.

Looking forward to the experience.

Re: Northolt Night Photoshoot XXVIIa Thursday 13th October 2022

Fantastic for everyone concerned to see the return of these events. On this occasion however, I am not able to attend as I will be out of the country. I shall look forward to seeing the images from the event though.

Good luck to Phil and team. Fingers crossed for a Spring 2023 event.

Re: RIAT 2023 wish list

The AH-1 Cobra appeared for the first time at an Air Tattoo in 1973 - any AH-1 on display (perhaps flying in inside a Hercules) would be quite something Sounds dangerous, the rotor blades would surely hit the inside of the fuselage? Sounds like an action sequence for a Mission Impossible film - we'...

Doing Edwards on the Saturday, and have my early bird ticket ($15 I think) for Santa Maria for the Sunday. Looking forward to both shows. I will therefore see you at both :-) Probably end up travelling in convoy between them too lol Absolutely Andy... If we're staying in Barstow, might be worth din...

Re: Flying Day Duxford ‘The Americans’ Sat 23rd July

Attended with my daughter and arrived just after 10am. Was quite a relaxed experience (after the scrum and weather of RIAT the week before) on this visit to Duxford and topped up my patch collection from the Mildenhall and Lakenheath people. Nice to see the F-15 flypast prior to the main flying sect...

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread

Agree with the bit above from Verreli about the Beluga being a solo moment - it worked a treat. I found that as pretty as it was to have the Reds in formation with various aircraft over the weekend, their smoke can actually disrupt a lot of shots, particularly when they get broadside to your positio...

Re: Black Eagles question……

They definitely met or even exceeded the high expectations that were created by their previous visit. Some of the formation changes are so dynamic and aggressive, they're forming 3/4 different formations in the time that the Reds take to make a turn. That final break to land is a fantastic addition...

Any news on the 'Crow Flies' award from FRIAT?
Won by the Black Eagles!
Good to know, thanks Dean.

My three top picks for awards this time would need to include The Black Eagles, The Belgian F-16 and the Austrian QRA.

I did Wednesday to Monday. I feel it now! Arrivals Days - Please give us proper Early Bird parking for arrivals days. Parking in Red Zone car park for arrivals... really? Nice to see Andy, glad you were able to see at least something.

A word to RIAT - that QRA was great theatre... More of that next year please.

Nice work with those CJS... amazing how effective a phone can be to grab a decent shot - the E4 in mono works really well. Hope the nipper had a good time.

It's still a marathon extravaganza of aviation naughtiness. Embrace it... we've waited so long for it. Bring the noise... and all of the RIAT jazz. Let us eat that cake... finally. Safe journey everyone... and enjoy the show, wherever your vantage point is. Hopefully I've got enough cash in the wall...

It is bizarre that the e-tickets they sent out for FRIAT members (an actual bonus for long distance overseas travellers especially - my good friend from Tasmania is already here in the UK and only has the e-ticket just now) do not show the seat number. Such a tiny detail that goes on the big red lan...

Nail on the head Caper. It's different strokes for different folks.

I made the 'mistake' of doing Totterdown on a show day in 2017 (had a showground ticket) and missed the B2 topside... Gutted that I was!! :D

Re: FRIAT 2023 ticket increases discussion

Before anyone starts, I take my own food and drink into the show - but will have a coffee from a vendor once settled. That's part of my attendance budget, a latte as I wait for the action to start on all 6 days. I will be curious to see the price of food/drink at this year's event - with Cosford in ...
