Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight

They've literally had to beg PEEL as their "new" home is not yet ready.

Least they can milk the cow now for a futher 6 months.

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight

You will sadly not be able to see XH558 depart, what you will see is a smoke screen from a newly speed taped canberra.

It's going to a little building being currently constructed (delayed) on the outskirts of Sheffield, will be enjoying a static life on a farm.

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight

They have arranged engineering to start late March for it to be dismantled, and moved by low loaders.

It will never likely run again engine wise, but may be electrically connected for a show piece.

Have to be off the airfield by June 23rd.

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight

I for one hope the volunteers remain attached to the aircraft but Edmondson, and trotters independent consultation traders alike can stop milking the cow with their 6 figure salaries.

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight

Its the same chap who wanted to build/fund the hangar at DSA but a clause was he wanted to own the land it would sit on and PEEL wouldn't budge.

After speaking to him, he confirmed the move.

Please check my posting history on 558, not been wrong yet.

Looks like 558 will be moving to Swallownest, on the outskirts of Sheffield.

Now I wonder when VTTS will inform their donators?

Re: Just Jane news

It was exchanged for a Spitfire. As was the P-51 that the RAF Museum have just given away to Australia (presumably no museums in the U.K. had the slightest interest in acquiring a Mustang). Plenty of Museums would have been- whether they were accredited and met the criteria of the RAFM (who knows w...

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight

I am certainly not getting any hope up, just merely posting what was being said during the last couple of weeks or so, to anyone who would listen! Sadly they will say anything positive to keep the pennies rolling in.. Much prefer donating to you guys rather then fat cat salaries and trotter's indep...

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight

Pilots have already said they will not fly it, its not safe.

No insurer in their right mind will insure an airframe which will have been sat outside now for many years without proper protection to fly.

Please don't get your hopes up, contractors have been booked for works to dismantle.

destination unknown gives the idea someone is going to be driving a truck with a Vulcan on the back next summer turning up at airfields asking "got any room for this mate" etc etc.
To be fair, you're not far off the mark.

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight

"Destination unknown.".... Does this mean that VTST are keeping it to themselves for the moment, or don't they know yet, either...? Also, is this a fully funded operation, or is there the usual nail-biting fundraising to be done...? Yes keeping it to themselves for now but engineers are b...

I wonder if Elvington might like it now?

Fund raising might be a problem unless they do a 'name under the win....' oh, hold on! (facepalm).
It wont be moved, they'll milk the cow a little more then it'll be crunch time, literally.

Re: XH558 News

Is there a breakdown on what the high ups get paid and other income/outgoings? Dont think you'll get that without a freedom of information act, but when the aircraft stopped flying and all the lads were made redundant, the honcho's continued to take full salaries for years, with the likes of trotte...

Re: Canberra WT327 to the U.K.

WK will never fly again, as VTTS have done a declaration of no flight with the CAA on it, and the tin triangle, the cost implications to reverse this would be phenomenal.

It'll end up on the back of a trailer as a show and tell piece guaranteed.

Re: Canberra WT327 to the U.K.

Thanks for allowing the thread. As Mike says i'm privvy to VTTS information and have shown them up quite a few times in the past (sorry UKAR!).

But yes, WT327 has been purchased by VTTS, unable to confirm if its heading to the UK thought as of yet.
