Re: RIAT 2020 Wishlist

In light of today's announcement of the static C130K, does anyone else miss the old C130 role demo where they used to deploy troops and vehicles onto the airfield? When was the last time they did this kind of thing?

Re: Headcorn Air Show

Those prices are incredible and I thought our £89 for four to camp for the weekend was a steal! It looks like someone from the organisers read this. The price this year is £120 and whilst that is competitive for the four tickets, we went as a pair last year - prepared to take the hit - so this isn'...

For all the scorn being poured on the poor (not-so-old) Tutor, I think it puts in a spirited display and personally I'm looking forward to seeing the Prefect displaying.

As big a long shot as an Iranian F-14 turning up...... .... Friday 17th July is the UK premier of Top Gun 2. Just saying.... What are you thinking? Tom Cruise on static? To be honest I was just thinking big screen for some apres flying entertainment. Now that would score some brownie points!

Apologies to the last couple of posters..I'll remember for the future this thread is a humour free zone Amen to that. Re: RIAT 2020

Anyone just get an email saying “introducing our new CEO” Strange email as he doesn’t really go into his attributes of why he has this position but more of why the grass isn’t cut at RIAT lol!! I did have a go about the length of the grass at the official campsite on the comment cards - he mentions...

I guess you'll be ok for an all upfront booking, but I gather that if you wanted to pay in instalments you needed to be registered some time ago. I got my email for making payments yesterday. £270 for almost a newbie Mach 3.

I'm sorry if my humour (and that was the intention) has been so badly received. I thought the whistling emoji would have put it across better. Mavvymoo was actually my dog's nickname - not being familiar with the bible (oh my goodness here come more stones! ) I googled it and learnt something - than...

Re: Replace the drip feed

Gosh there are some fragile egos on here. The very nature of social media and the absolute proliferation of information channels mean that the "drip feed" or perhaps "drip leak" is almost certainly the way forward unless DBH adopt a "loose lips sink ships" policy to the...

Re: Replace the drip feed

I would like to see DBH treating customers with some respect and not treating them like children, and not being told like I was when I asked one of the staff while in the Q "what will the main sunday flypast be please" - "Can't tell you its a Supprise" made me feel like I was on...

Re: Anybody feeling nostalgic over Scampton?

Personally I enjoyed the day at Scampton, but I wonder how much of that was coloured by my memories of being there on camp as a cadet getting "bored" with 24hr Vulcan flying in 1978? The flying programme was interesting (perhaps with one or two exceptions cough autogyro cough) but even tha...

Re: RIAT 2020 Wishlist

i was looking at the participation list of some seaside air shows this year and they have a few interesting aircraft. The NEW which attended in 2018 seem to be currently showing the t-33 and mig-15. I think a mig-15 would be nice to see next year. On a little side note, two ukraine il-76 cargo plan...

Re: if we were in charge?

Yes, the idea of having money off for bad weather is absurd. The only way this would work is if the airshow was totally cancelled and an insurance claim could be made. This would spoil an otherwise good day out and also create an unsustainable increase in insurance premiums. For the record - I had ...

Re: if we were in charge?

There may be 1001 reasons why it can't happen but.....if RIAT was put back one week, it would be within the school holidays. This would open Friday up to the "something to do with the bored kids during the summer hols" market plus many more adults are around due to having taken time off t...

Which squadron went home with the most cash? Probably the Lakenheath crew - £20.00 for their patches! Picked up a few nice patches elsewhere for much less... notably the Spanish Harrier team, the Danish F-16s, the B-52 crew and a nice Indian patch from P&V East for a tenner during arrivals. Spe...

Hmmm...aim Friday more at families but then charge for over 12s when they go free Saturday and Sunday? Not sure about that unless Friday's show is super cheap for adults as you suggest, but then what kind of show will you end up with? Charging significantly less for Friday has to be a given though,...

Not tried them myself, but if by 'good value' you mean reasonably priced, you could look at something like the Alinco DJ-X30 or Uniden/Bearcat UBC-125XLT. Both cover the all-important military airband frequency range, as opposed to just the civi airband range & both are available for under £150...
