Anyone at Old Warden today? Did I miss anything interesting?
Hope it was a good one, weather seemed pretty good....

Re: RIAT 2019

Great review! Ultimately though the ‘enthusiasts’ probably only counts for less than 5% of attendees and I only see things going in one direction. More tat and ferris wheels for the public, more Corp hospitality for the commercial partners. Hope I am proved wrong next time I attend.

Re: RIAT 2019 security

Happened to me on Sunday. After the body wand scan I was told to put bag on table, and have it opened. Got to the table and the guy just said 'on you go mate' There was one absolute jobsworth in yellow though Saturday morning. A guy behind me took a photo of the Yellow entry arch. A security guard ...

Re: RIAT 2019 - Issues

1. entry process (particularly Red) needs investigating and reinventing. It is unacceptable to make people wait in line for an hour or more, security procedures or not. (In terms of security you are creating a potential secondary target by having c.1000 people congregating in a small space. I could ...

Re: RIAT 2019

Overall a pretty good day but like someone previously said, the extended lunch section did drag on. Great to see the Spartan rolling around the skies and the BBMF Lanc again. A special shout out to the Italian support for this year’s show which were all entertaining acts and made even more so sittin...

Re: RIAT 2019

Lineup looking pretty thin as anticipated with no surprises.
But the sun is shining and there some star items so planning to make the most of today ahead of my planned RIAT sabbatical (first time I won’t be renewing my FRIAT membership).

Re: RIAT 2019

Interesting day in all. For me: The good: Hornet displays, F-16 Viper takeoff, reds and 747 flypast, Mig21 missed approach, Frecce team display, RAF Typhoon display, 2 Harriers hovering together The bad: Red entrance queues (special mention to “Matt the Prat”), NATO flypast (damb squib), pacing and ...

Re: RIAT 2019

I’ve no real knowledge of this area, but one imagines that a significant amount of marketing for something like RIAT is securing repeat customers. You’re not going to do that by pissing them off with super-happy-clap Tweets that don’t reflect the mood in the room. Not every marketing post has to be...

Re: RIAT 2019

Marketing should reflect the context in which it is used. The claim that Friday was in any way fantasic is not marketing, it's delusional and undermines the brand. Decent marketing would have dealt with the issue of rain and shown empathy with the visitors rather than pretend that it was fantastic....

Any FRIAT members coming in through Welford, ignore the sign saying FRIAT member parking in the red car park and continue to blue. There is no member entrance at red and queues are horrendous.

Re: RIAT 2019

Love the fact the RIAT Day 1 email referred to ‘damp’ conditions!
If it was only ‘damp’ maybe more aircraft should have been flying?

They adopt the one-way social media approach a lot of organisations do. They are very vocal when all is going well but hide when it gets tough.

Re: RIAT 2019

Sorry, but there is so much unnecessary s*** around. The aircraft are placed as such that they feel like an inconvenience to someone who might want to buy a scented candle, try roller skating, or try some "street food". Now, I can see that some of the ground displays are nice. The coastgu...
