Re: RAF Flypasts VE Day

I wish I was in my second home of Houston this week (I spend about two months a year over there working). They are getting a flyover by the Blue Angels today and a 30 warbird flyover on Friday!!!

PBY-5A Canso Waterbomber, CF-101 Voodoo, Beechcraft 18s and a Lockheed Hudson Bomber, plus the backside of a DC3 at the North Atlantic Aviation Museum in Gander Newfoundland. A nice little museum. F-16s on the ramp at the main airport when I went through as well. https://www.google.com/maps/@48.9528...

Did anyone get a Thunderbirds T-shirt from the T-Shirt cannon in the FRIAT stand. The lad needs some serious aiming practice. People round the back of the stand probably got a shock as they landed in their cups of coffee!!

Tonka up the Wharfe Valley

Just been sitting in the garden having a cuppa and was treated to a nice and loud Tonka flying west up the Wharfe Valley near Ilkley. Happy Days.

I think the best candidate would be a certain triangle shaped four engine jet currently residing in South Yorkshire.

Imagine turning up at the G8 with that. Time to be taken seriously.

Re: how was everybodys 2015 airshow season????

My first big airshow year after getting back into it last year. First time back at RIAT for about 8 years, and went whole hog Mach 3. Very enjoyable. First time at Cosford and Yeovilton. Highlights: Vulcan display at RIAT Saturday as well as fly past with the reds. Same with the Sea Vixen and Vampir...

Re: RAF Church Fenton air show East Leeds - organisation

1. Traffic. Have marshalls or police en route. Keep the queues moving and ensure that there are enough facilities to speedily park on arrival. See how Harewood House, the Great Yorkshire Show or even the Irish Ploughing Shows are now organised - the latter also take place at the back of beyond. A o...

Re: Leeds East (ex RAF Church Fenton) air show

Interesting to hear about the commentary, as there was none down the entrance end. Great view, even with the 'Vulcan surge' when it arrived. Could see the Vulcan in the distance whilst the Gnats and Spit/Hurri displayed. Looked like it was doing some nice low level stuff, someone got a good free sho...

Both the Historic Flight (Meteor and Vampire) and the Mig got warned by the tower for excessive turns or too close to crowd.
Thought the Dakota and Frankie were wonderfully low.

I think they are fantastic. Love number 15.

Are the flares in 11 from that jet or another, I always assumed flares were ejected from underneath (although my Mig anatomy is rather poor!)
