Re: Bruntingthorpe Closure?

yup, i for one, despite pleading (almost on a daily basis) for Brunty to have the tin triangle languishing next to a crap farm in south yorkshire, realise it has, despite the passing years since it did practically anything, dodged the bullet. Unfortunately i cannot now see any future for Brunty, and...

Re: Olympus Camera's R.I.P. ?

I had the most horrible of horrible versions in the OM30!

went through 4 different ones (in 6 weeks) before exchanging it for a Minolta.
It was a dog and had, apparently, a known focus and shutter problem.

Truly awful

Boris Johnson's A330 in Union flag paint scheme alongside Red Arrows!
I'd say it was the 'United Kindgoms' A330, its just that the current prime minister will use it first.

Henceforth to be known by me as 'UK1' which is more in keeping with the purpose of the jet when VIP working than the rather silly BF1, which does nothing to raise our profile as a country.

Re: Edward Colston statue removal, your views.

It may have been a disgrace in some eyes, but where do you stop? Taken to the Nth degree, Liverpool's for burning (2nd biggest city trading in slaves, and the city was pretty much build on the abhorrent trade). Maybe, just maybe a statue of Colston could have been used in a more permanent but very e...

Re: Bruntingthorpe Closure?

The only way i see it, to have a long term guarantee of survival for all these airframes (if movable) would be to own the airfield. These wouldnt, i imagine, come cheap, but it would be the only sure fire way in my opinion. Scampton being the obvious choice, hangars, buildings, housing, space, and r...

Hi Wrexham, In the final years i lived in Banbury and was a fence hangar almost every day up u til about 6 months before closure. I distinctly remember the 4 ship variable geometry flypast being practiced about a week before i saw it at Mildenhall, but also in the same week i saw an 'in trail' 4 shi...

Re: A New Step Into Space

my word, 'impressive' doesnt quite explain what i have just seen on my i-pad.

Smooth journey, and the booster landed perfectly. It's like watching Thunderbirds on telly as a kid..... almost the same feeling of amazement and exhileration.

Re: Cool Moves

For me, at one of the last good farnborough airshows 1995 i believe..... you know the ones..... aircraft, displays, and Russian stuff. Anyway, the Su37 number 711, had thrust vectoring and showed it better than an F-22 ever could as it was 360 degrees TV. So we had tailslides, cobras, no square loop...

Re: Mohave aircraft help please?

Hi Andy, my miss identification i think, looking at the nose through the 2013 heat haze it now strikes me as like a super galeb but with tip tanks. The nose looks thin but not hawk in shape, i cannot see the elevators so presume they are either missing or lost in the haze. Colours look dark green wi...

indeed they are thanks. With your pics and those ive found through various sources, i've managed to tie them down to their 'N' registrations based on outside 1 and 4 positions first, then the middle 2, based wierdly on their rudders 2 x white and 2 x grey etc. Took a bit of detective work but with h...

Re: Mildenhall Air Fete 1997

That was a heck of an airshow, and in my minds eye, probably the best airshow from about 1993 to the finish, with the nightmare last ever show there that took nearly 5 hours to get in from just before the roundabout Mildenhall village side in view of the field! Never have i seen or experienced as ba...
