Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread

I had the great pleasure of watching Mustang X-Ray today and no kidding, you are in for a treat. It is quite a complete display with formation work, opposition passes and then some tactical training stuff. The PC21 is a proper little rocketship but can also keep it close to the audience. I wouldn't...

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread

While it is still possible,

I'd love a Croatian Mig 21 or pair, a pair of F-4's from Greece and Turkey......or even Korea? or perhaps ask the Golden Eagles to bring along a normally painted 'air spare' for the static?

Any one of these could be called a star of the show, fast jet wise, i think.

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread

Now i will get shot down for this (very apt on an aviation forum i guess), but i'm feeling a tad Me-eh! Lots of props turning and dissapearing in the expance of a Fairford Sky, and i think the show is a little lightweight, compared to previous years. Now, before anyone says it, yes i am aware that g...

Why wouldn't they?
The phrase is an ongoing joke about stuff doing the loop. I've seen the phrase on here, F.C., and facebook, plus LFA1 and 17 facebook pages. lol

Re: unusual il-76

Unless it is within 12nm of the coast of any particular country it is in international airspace - it is not 'European ' airspace even if ATC is provided by a 'European country'. State aircraft - mil police customs - do not have to follow civil regulations in international airspace... or so I unders...

TSR2 bits?

I've seen plenty of TSR 2 bits kicking around, the elevator / engine exhaust castings are around if you look a bit.

There's 1 large casting in a Bungay's free delightful open air museum, might that have been for the original prototypes?

Re: RIAT ‘22 wish list

I have to say that i was not blown away by the announcement yesterday. After such a gap, one would have hoped for a loud ,noisy, flame spitting aircraft as the first one to be mentioned. Christ its been so blinking long since we had one (due to the covid, obviously). Same for the show itself, i beli...

Met you once and watched your work with 558 (well probably a joy for you actually) on the display circuit.

I wonder if Elvington might like it now?

Fund raising might be a problem unless they do a 'name under the win....' oh, hold on! (facepalm).

Re: F1 ( and other motorsports ) 2020

what i cannot understand is 'the best driver won' comments, and 'Max deserved to win'. Lets be honest now........no he didnt. He got a 'lucky', but manipulated break (possibly worse if the rumours about the retirement of the other RB car get traction (excuse the pun)), and nothing more. He didnt win...

Re: F1 ( and other motorsports ) 2020

I now believe more than ever, after sundays debacle of 'match fixing', that the safety car should be done away with and only the VSC should be implemented. Gaps are kept the same, no one gains an advantage, except to change tyres if they have them available, but you may lose whatever position you ma...

Dealt with the guys and gals in London in overall Charge of the national railway collection a few years back, regarding getting an item repainted and renovated,at no cost to the 'custodians'. Re: another one bites the dust - Brunty's Super Guppy to be cut up

While i'm sure David Walton will produce a good museum for his few aircraft, the ones that are leaving , or in this case along with the VC10's to go, scrapped will create a void that before had Brunty as 'The' Place to go, but now, or very soon, its just a small so so museum with a few planes off th...

JSDF 301squadron gone?

Just had a pop up of my face thingy to say that yesterday was the last day for the JASDF 301 squadron Flying the F-4 finished yesterday?

Am i having a 'mandella' moment or did it finish?

Either way, anyone know if the test F-4 will be finishing flying once it's all over?
