Re: Uncle Bulgaria 2002 Pt.2

Hi chaps, quick question : does anyone know the current whereabouts of that one-off Bell 430 serial '430' ? It's now long retired, but is it still in Bulgaria ? Still flying somehow, static, or gone ? Any ideas welcome thanks.

Cheers, Rupe

Re: ID question

Hi Andy,

Looks very much like a Hawker Tempest, but admittedly the serial is a bit of head-scratcher.
The museum I believe has a whole one on display....MW848 (displays 'HA623').
There have also been rumours of others held on IAF bases....is this where this mystery one came from ?

Thanks for the feedback Mr Varkman.
Yes, those old Russian types are virtually gone nowadays from Europe.

Uncle Bulgaria 2002 Pt.2

Hi chaps, Looking through my photo album recently from this trip, I realised there were loads of active and W+R photos I didn't include in my original post (a long time ago). Considering how often anything from this air force ventured abroad (next to never), you may find some of these interesting......

Hi chaps, Funny story. The other day, me and the wife were out on a country walk, celebrating our wedding anniversary (as yer do). Nice pics and great camo schemes. The mystery location would be Woomera, the missile testing range. Also nice

Hi chaps, The day after Leeuwarden was the show at Koksijde in Belgium. Both shows were well worth the trip. Shame about sun in the eyes for the flying. Thanks for the update Brian, it's always good to hear of warbirds returning to the nest. Quite a rare thing, as they don't often return from the USA.
I'll have to go and check her out now, a nice excuse to head back to Duxford !!
