When the weather isn't as per the plan.... Iniochos 23

The plan was: Go to Greece + perfect weather + awesome jets = great shots. Spotters day 1 arrives and the weather in the morning is far from planned, dark skies and lots of rain planned until lunchtime. The positioning of spotters was also changed from the year previous, the grass had been left long...

Re: Cobra Warrior from beyond the fence - 12-09-18

Giant, yes they flew both sessions although the afternoon was more spread out due to operational exercise variation from morning sorties. Thanks Sully. Sadly yesterdays trip was severly wind effected. RAF flew 5 jets in the morning but all landed back by 1030, Germans didn't move and the Italians o...

Cobra Warrior from beyond the fence - 12-09-18

Decided to spend the day at RAF Coningsby on Wednesday starting early at CG1, then around the perimeter to try and get the best of the movements and light. Plenty of movements and a lunchtime interval of PA474 bashing the circuit instead of venturing to Jersey due to the arrival weather. Great to ca...

A fews days out in the Loop

Well August has the nett sum of one visit to the hills, so you'll have to settle for a few days out in July and that one occassion. First up was 10th July, pre-RIAT, with some international friends calling in for a flying visit: 1) https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1825/42462696415_7c7fbb9348_b.jpg Bes...

Forca Aerea Portuguesa - Evora 2018

Due to work commitments I found myself missing the Llandudno Armed Forces day and instead in the tiny city of Evora, Portugal. As I approached the outskirts of the city I was over-passed by a C130 Hercules closely followed by a quartet of F-16's in box formation close to the small municipal airfield...

Also, are there locations outside the Poznan airport on the south side? Thank you I hope this might help you make your decision. Dear Kelvin As far a...

Re: NATO Tiger Meet 2018

So it seems, and apparently in to sun to. Still, should be a good day out - and plenty of other stuff to do whilst over there Seeing as there will not be too much base time, plus the fact I haven't yet received any tickets, can anyone recommend other things to do within the region? Looking to possi...

Re: C17 Globemaster in Low Level flying on a Saturday

Looking at a sun position app for photographers, the sun would have been roughly directly overhead the lake from a southerly direction at about the time the C-17 came through. A couple of hours later and you would have had better lighting on it as the sun would have been further round. Given the co...

C17 Globemaster in Low Level flying on a Saturday

After seeing a posted heads up of activity in LFA17 and only 1 1/2 drive away I high tailed it up to Smaithwaite with my usual partner in crime. The morning consisted of 2 x AH-64, C17 & 2 x AW101's. Unfortunately the AH64's puled up off the lake and disappeared before Raven Cragg, but thankfull...

Australian Navy MH-60R Seahawks LFA7 Low Level

A glorious day on Corris was only spoilt by no aircraft turning up, so myself and Starbug1981 decided we'd look for a new location in the hope of catching the Australian Navy MH-60R's that were due to fuel stop at RAF Valley on the way to JW in Scotland. We spent an hour scoping out goggle maps (whi...

RAF Chinook ZH894 Gas n Go!

Another quick blast down to the City Airport, Manchester (also known as Barton Aerodrome) saw ZH894 Royal Air Force Boeing CH-47 Chinook HC2A drop in for a rotors running gas and go. Quite where his partner ended up is unknown as it should have been a pair, but those are the mysteries of military mo...

Very nice, bud. I like the 1st and 3rd shots. How many US C-130Js were there? I count three? Interesting to see the Dyess-marked machine through there, too. Thanks Tommy, 3 x C130J's (2 x Ramstein, 1 x Dyess) 4 passes by the flight under Herky 71 - 73. Then MC130 for 3 passes as well. 15 C130 passe...

LFA 7 Ramstein, Dyess and Strix in low level flight.

An impromptu day in the mountains recently found me shivering in winds with a wind chill of -16 degrees, all in search of my first Ramstein aircraft in the Low Level envelope. A long day of snow showers and passing cloud, plus strong winds meant low shutter speeds were not our friends on the day, bu...
