Re: RAF Cosford Air Show 2019 - Sunday 9th June 2019
Very good show. Loved the Sea Fury (but always do), bit disappointed that the Lanc didn't hang around for long. WWII scenario was nice. Hornet was superb, that and the Gripen putting on much better displays than the Typhoon in my opinion, both punchier, closer and more dynamic. The usual free-for-al...

Re: Get(ting) IN
We used to use those routes, but changes to traffic control over recent years meant that you might be parked off base. For the last two years we've camped near Bridgnorth and driven up for about 7 ish, using the entrance off the A464 (?), which takes you across the end of the runway and into the nea...

Geoff - get yourself along to Beat Generator for some of the tribute bands. I've seen Who's Next and The Complete Stone Roses there this year, and would have seen more if I was in country. I also saw Voodoo Room - a Cream/Clapton/Hendrix tribute - in Kinross, and a Pink Floyd tribute in Perth Hall....

Re: Home brew / wine making
Came to rack my ale into the pressure keg last night, only to find it warped inwards. Looks like someone has taken a cricket bat to it. Can only think its due to rapidly changing temperatures over the summer (I haven't brewed since then). I pressurised it and it popped back into shape, but I'm not r...

Re: Home brew / wine making
Fermentation of my latest ale seems to have finished. Looking at just under 4.5% at the moment, that might rise slightly when I add the priming sugar to the keg. I've just dry hopped with the Citra and Kohatu, going to leave it until Monday before I transfer to the keg. It's a lovely pale colour, qu...

Re: Children in Restaurants
We've two boys, a 5 year old and a 3 year old. Firstly, we wouldnt dream of being out this late at night with them, unless it was for a family party or similar. If we do eat out as a family, we choose carefully, usually somewhere like a carvery where, more often than not, there's plenty of families ...

Re: Home brew / wine making
A couple of weeks on & rather disappointingly my wine is no longer green.....it's pink ! If you've seen the cheap home-brand bottles of pink lemonade the likes of Asda do, it's that sort of pink. The good news is, it's currently around 13% ABV. Next thing will be filtering it out for secondary ...

Re: Home brew / wine making
Not posted for a while. Though I'd better before my account gets deleted Last night I started a 36 pint batch of pale ale. Wilkos didn't have enough light malt extract, so I've substitued with a bag of Muntons beer enhancer. So I've got 1kg light malt, 1kg of enhancer and 500g of medium malt. Should...

Re: Asbestos in Seakings
When I qualified as a spark, I had to do an asbestos awareness course. Not sure how true this is, but the tutor told us a story of how the first cigarette company to introduce filters, did so to acknowledge that their product might cause a cough, and that they really cared about their customers. Gue...

Had a lovely weekend. Atmosphere at East Kirkby great as usual. The Fury was awesome. Went to Skeg Vegas for the first time in my life after, and stayed in a b&b. Different, but enjoyable!

Re: RAF Voyager?
There's a picture on the RAF website of a Voyager refuelling two Tornados. It says different configurations are available, such as a central trailing hose for refuelling larger aircraft, but I'm not sure if there's provision for refuelling more than two smaller aircraft at a time. I'd imagine it'd b...

Re: RIAT "Glamping"
This was the second time I've used the official campsite. I've got to say the communication from Tangerine Fields has always been excellent. The lady I spoke to on the phone explained that due to them using some of the site for RIAT parking, they had slightly less room than last year, and the layout...

Re: Whelford End - spotting from pavement being blocked for
Guys, seriously... this is the third time i've posted this but nobody seems to take note - if you walk to the far West of the RIAT showground the crowd-line is, in my experience, always sparsely populated. You don't need to miss the airshow. You do, however, need to pay for your ticket. You're righ...

What a great show. Congratulations to the organisers. The static was well laid out and the variety on show was very good. A highlight for me was the F3, Phantom and Lightning lined up together. The flying display was excellent. I thought the chronological order for RAF-linked types worked really wel...

Does anyone know if tickets need to be printed, or can they scan the barcode on a phone/tablet? I can't find the answer on either the airshow or seetickets websites. They can scan the barcode on your phone. No need to actually print them. That’s how we’ve done it in previous years. Great thanks for...

Out of interest (as I've been unable to attend the last couple of years due to work) how have they parked the cars the last couple of years? I ask because back in 2014 the cars coming in from the SW corner (over the runway) entrance, despite being pretty much the first on the field were parked up i...

Elvis looks like the love child of Steven Seagal and Nicholas Cage. I thought Jacko was Lt Uhura.
