Re: Weather watch 23

I know this is heresy to lots on here, but I'm not that fussed about static displays! I'm not a photographer and regularly visit air museums. I see plenty of warbirds throughout the year at other shows, and whilst seeing some of the rarer visitors on the ground and up close is pretty cool (I always ...

Re: Weather watch 23

I was only able to get down for Friday this year, not sure its worth the drive down now with the heavy rain forecast. Does anyone know how likely it is anything will be flying tomorrow if the rain is as bad as expected? I've been before when there's been the odd interruption due to rainy spells, I'm...

Re: Cosford 2022 - your thoughts

Not a bad day. It did feel a bit thin, long gaps between displays at times, but late cancellations didn't help. F16 was brilliant, Rafale also (but not as good as previous displays in my opinion), but the noise from the Mustang made that my favourite for the day. Wondering, would it have hurt to hav...

Re: RAF Cosford Air Show 2019 - Sunday 9th June 2019

Very good show. Loved the Sea Fury (but always do), bit disappointed that the Lanc didn't hang around for long. WWII scenario was nice. Hornet was superb, that and the Gripen putting on much better displays than the Typhoon in my opinion, both punchier, closer and more dynamic. The usual free-for-al...

Re: Get(ting) IN

We used to use those routes, but changes to traffic control over recent years meant that you might be parked off base. For the last two years we've camped near Bridgnorth and driven up for about 7 ish, using the entrance off the A464 (?), which takes you across the end of the runway and into the nea...

Re: Asbestos in Seakings

When I qualified as a spark, I had to do an asbestos awareness course. Not sure how true this is, but the tutor told us a story of how the first cigarette company to introduce filters, did so to acknowledge that their product might cause a cough, and that they really cared about their customers. Gue...

Had a lovely weekend. Atmosphere at East Kirkby great as usual. The Fury was awesome. Went to Skeg Vegas for the first time in my life after, and stayed in a b&b. Different, but enjoyable!

Re: RAF Voyager?

There's a picture on the RAF website of a Voyager refuelling two Tornados. It says different configurations are available, such as a central trailing hose for refuelling larger aircraft, but I'm not sure if there's provision for refuelling more than two smaller aircraft at a time. I'd imagine it'd b...

Re: RIAT "Glamping"

This was the second time I've used the official campsite. I've got to say the communication from Tangerine Fields has always been excellent. The lady I spoke to on the phone explained that due to them using some of the site for RIAT parking, they had slightly less room than last year, and the layout...

Re: Whelford End - spotting from pavement being blocked for

Guys, seriously... this is the third time i've posted this but nobody seems to take note - if you walk to the far West of the RIAT showground the crowd-line is, in my experience, always sparsely populated. You don't need to miss the airshow. You do, however, need to pay for your ticket. You're righ...

Re: RAF Cosford Air Show 2018 - [Main Topic]

What a great show. Congratulations to the organisers. The static was well laid out and the variety on show was very good. A highlight for me was the F3, Phantom and Lightning lined up together. The flying display was excellent. I thought the chronological order for RAF-linked types worked really wel...

Re: RAF Cosford Air Show 2018 - [Main Topic]

Does anyone know if tickets need to be printed, or can they scan the barcode on a phone/tablet? I can't find the answer on either the airshow or seetickets websites. They can scan the barcode on your phone. No need to actually print them. That’s how we’ve done it in previous years. Great thanks for...

Re: RAF Cosford Air Show 2018 - [Main Topic]

Out of interest (as I've been unable to attend the last couple of years due to work) how have they parked the cars the last couple of years? I ask because back in 2014 the cars coming in from the SW corner (over the runway) entrance, despite being pretty much the first on the field were parked up i...

I don't remember there being electric hook-ups, not sure about charging points. We've got a leisure battery and a small solar panel for our van.

Re: RIAT "Glamping"

My usual hotel has skyrocketed in price this year, so I’m thinking about using the official site and glamping. The main selling point is the short walk in the mornings and, for the first time, the possibility of having a beer during the day (although that will not help my already abysmal photograph...

Re: RIAT "Glamping"

We stayed on the official RIAT campsite in our campervan and awning, and I agree, it's hard to find fault. No pitches set aside, just park up and pitch where you want, within reason. Showers were hot, entertainment quite good, and only a short walk to the entrance. Not very busy either. Prices for r...
