Very disappointing, was about to book a Sunday ticket. Does seem very much a knee jerk reaction to not a lot though. No politician is ever going to say the final unlocking is definitely going to happen on 21st June, we all know what the media are like if something is promised and then doesn't happen...

Melvyn Hiscock

Can't see another post on here, but thought it deserved it's own topic.
Just seen on the Wings & Wheels Facebook page (don't know how to link via my phone) that Melvyn Hiscock has passed away.
He, along with Brendan O'Brien, really made Wings & Wheels stand out from other shows. RIP.

You're probably right, but the Isle of Man is in a very different position to the rest of the country as they have got almost total eradication of Covid. They will more than likely open up later than the rest of the country.

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

It seems fairly certain that Covid was in the country well before March and was well spread thoughout the country, this wasn't the case in NZ. Once it has spread (and I believe it was well spread in January), there is no stopping it short of locking everyone in their homes, which fortunately isn't ...

Obviously being a fair bit younger than some on here(!), my very first airshow was Legends 2003, and have actually managed to attend a show every year since, although 2005 - 2011 was only RIAT (2008 - Farnborough)

It looks like we may be in the ridiculous situation come Tuesday (vote in the commons) that its going to be up be Labour to decide on if a Tory policy gets implemented. There were 32(?) votes against the lockdown last month from within the Tory party. It looks like that number may be greater than th...

But by adjusting the dose, they also expect 90% effectiveness. Even with the current results, it is a far cheaper, quicker to produce and easier to store & distribute compared to the others.
70% effectiveness is still pretty damn good anyway, better than the annual flu jab

so applying back of an envelope calculations based on Pfizer's (and now Russia's) stats, the vaccine protects 90% of those exposed from infection leaving 5 million cases worldwide and 120,000 deaths of those 5 million cases 95-99% are mild or asymptomatic so between 50-250k serious cases. Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

The point of a lockdown is simply to stop the exponential growth of the virus. It is to stop the huge growth, overwhelming the NHS, and to sort out test and friggin trace. Expect the latter to, once again, be forgotten. Again, is the virus spreading exponentially? Daily confirmed cases have been fa...

Apologies, I'm not too good at getting my point across via text, but you've taken my point the wrong way there. My point is school's etc need to stay open. The current young generation have already missed months of education, the long term effects of missing education will get worse the more it goes...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Possibly I didn't phrase it right. I know no-one wants a lockdown, but some are more 'keen' than others. So, let's say we've had our 'circuit breaker', would it of worked? Personally, I doubt it. Again, look at March, cases took 6 weeks to drop ( and actually initially continued to rise). The main d...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

But are the hospitals being overwhelmed? At the moment, no. As I said earlier, official data seems to be showing that cases have peaked/plateaued, contrary to some of the 'experts' models. The same experts that predicted 50,000 deaths in Sweden due to their no lockdown policy, look how wrong that is...

Yes, he does, but for continually bowing to pressure from some very questionable modelling coming from some scientific organisations. Reports are continually being released saying cases are surging, yet we hit 26,000 cases 10 days ago, and the daily total is yet to match that. Yes, I know not all ca...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

The point is, do lockdowns work? Was the drop in cases during the last lockdown due to the lockdown (bear in mind it took 6 weeks for cases to start to drop), or was it due to summer appearing and Covid levels naturally falling as it's a seasonal virus, or a mixture. Look at when cases started to sk...

But the other 'worst case scenario' was 50,000 cases by mid-October. Were at the end of October and only about half that. You'd of thought both cases and deaths would go hand in hand (prediction wise), but doesn't seem to be the situation at the moment. Evidently, there's missing / misinterpreted da...

'Daily' deaths are always higher at this part of the week due to the reporting lag from the weekend. Deaths were just over 100 a couple days ago. Remember, these are death WITH covid, not from which hasn't been correctly recorded since day 1. (Which is a disgrace that it's not been correctly recorde...

It is normal for anti-bodies to decline. You're not going to produce them if you're not infected. Your memory B cells should be able to trigger a response to the virus (along with T cells) if you are re-infected.

Highly unlikely. They'll still be a few thousand feet up over Shuttleworth. Dunsfold and Biggin Hill manage(d) fine being directly underneath the flight paths for Gatwick and Heathrow
