Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus

The World has China to thank for this whole tragic mess! Not only were they aware of it, but actively denied the existence to other nations despite a leading Chinese physician being silenced by the Chinese Government. And still they deny any responsibility. m What can one expect with such disgracefu...

Re: RIAT 2020

Suggest you re-read my post, and then the articles you linked. Nowhere does it say WILL. It's all speculation at the moment. "Mass gatherings are to be banned across the UK from next weekend, the government has announced after Boris Johnson’s cautious approach to the coronavirus outbreak was o...

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus

Even if RIAT isn't cancelled, surely the line up would be slim. The world has bigger things to worry about and finance, than sending assets to the UK for an Air Show.

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus

I think it is only a matter of time before the decision to cancel events such as RIAT and Yeovilton is made. I only mention these 2 shows as they are 2 of the 3 shows that I was to travel from Australia to the UK for on the 1st of July. In Australia, medical authorities are speculating that the viru...

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus

Granted, not the UK, but I fear it is a sign of what's to come in the UK this season.

For me, booked and paid up to travel from Australia for Old Warden, Yeovilton and RIAT, I stand to lose thousands of dollars.

Re: RIAT 2020

Australia has just declared the "Corona Virus" as a Pandemic. With all the talk about cancelling major events such as the Olympics and Formula One selected races, what are the general feelings about "Corona" affecting RIAT given the spread of the virus and RIAT being some 4 month...

Re: RIAT 2020

I'd agree with that.

The RCAF CF-18 Demo in 2018 was very ordinary.

The RAAF F-18 Demo runs rings around it, with the same safety concerns and restrictions.

The only real positive was the scheme, and another countries participation.

Thanks also to Big_Gareth and others who have replied. The images posted on Flickr have been sharpened and processed firstly in LR, then PS. I'll give the Back Focus a run in preparation for next years RIAT. RAAF Edinburgh was like a 'dust pit' with very high winds and shooting in the afternoon glar...

Canon 5DIII with Canon 100-400 L II USM

Just returned from an RAAF Air Show at Edinburgh, South Australia and really disappointed with my images. It has caused me to re access my photographic techniques. Firstly, with the Canon 100-400 mm L USM II, should I use Mode 2 or 3 for flying subjects (IS)? Secondly when shooting aircraft in forma...

BBMF Lancaster Nose Art

I was absolutely ecstatic to have finally had the chance to photograph the BBMF Lancaster at RIAT 2018 on my third visit to the UK. Unfortunately it was undergoing maintenance after the engine fire during my 2015 & 2016 trips. I have been slowly processing some of the 30,000 images that I took o...

Re: What did we all buy?

Hey Airshowhammer, would there be any chance you could please show what the Ukranian SU-27 patches look like? I couldn't get back down that end when they were selling, but have checked eBay and there is a Ukranian seller selling the SU-27 patches. Want to make sure they are the same as sold at RIAT ...

Did anyone find departures today a bit dull and disjointed? Were crews advised not to show off top sides on departure?

Re: FRIAT Forum

My FRIAT package just arrived in Australia.

I attended my first RIAT in 2016 with a Mach 3 ticket. I thought there was more in the envelope in 2016, and maybe a car pass/sticker.

Can someone tell me if there should be a car pass/sticker in the package?

Regards,

Re: FRIAT Seating Plan 2018

I contacted the FRIAT staff for clarification and was very happy with how professional and courteous they were. It is exactly as Airwolfhound explained it. If you purchased a Mach 3 and got placed well down the stand it is because you elected to have an aisle seat. The aisle seats are very popular, ...

Re: FRIAT Seating Plan 2018

I'm having a hard time getting my head around this!

So a Mach 2 person got row E, and yet a Mach 3 person got row G :dunno:

I thought Mach 3 was priority elevation so a Mach 3 couldn't be below a Mach 2 unless they specifically requested it :wall:
