Is drinking water available on site (to fill reusable bottles rather than buying bottles for water)?

Is the beach parking south of the pier as I'm going to drive (I know get the train and wont to be southern end of the crowd line for the light (hopefully). Yes, everything on the beach is south of the pier. I think there is some off-beach parking north of the pier, but I've never been up there. Tha...

Re: Southport 2019

Stalls and displays are within the show ground. The layout and set up at Southport is much like an airshow at an airfield, which will make sense when you see it. The geography is such that you can't get that close or much of a view (at show centre) without paying to go in, and once in you have all ...

Re: Oshkosh 2020.

Thanks for all the useful tips so far. I'm booked in the University for 2020 based on previous advise and will use the shuttle bus.

I heard its insect season as well so will need some repellent.

Re: Zeltweg 2019

Four airshows that weekend and this was top of my list with accommodation booked but I bailed as well about a month ago as the list was way too thin to convince me to book flights. And we have the Viggen and Tunnan at Southport so why travel to Austria.

I had the D500 from them a few months ago following recommendations on UKAR. Not had to use customer services but the delivery was fast and I would recommend them.

Re: NATO and Falklands War

Having a browse through the RIAT Program and came to the NATO 70TH Anniversary, I read that the only time Article 5 was invoked was when the Twin Towers were attacked. So going back to when Argentina invaded the Falklands I am wondering why Article 5 was not invoked. Does anyone know the reason. Th...

I thought Elliot's point was a good one given that was a major reason sited for the cancellation.

Me262 has never been officially part of the line-up as far as I know. Just been "hashtagged" in an official tweet. #Vulcan #space shuttle!!!! Thanks. I'd not checked the list before so maybe time for it to be added but a great line up regardless. Have they had the spotters area before and...

No much better :)

But if you buy in advance (and the local supermarkets sold them in previous years) it is the same price but includes the flightline walk which is usually extra (5 euros from memory) if you pay on the gate.

Have tickets for Tuesday and Wednesday. Plan for Sunday was to watch arrivals from outside so as to be the right side for the sun - if there is any - but seems road closures in place even though it’s not a designated display. May go to Old Warden now to get the 9 departing from there. Is there a li...

It's unbelievably quiet - and they have been unbelievably crap about updating the official webpage which is still only showing 3 display teams under the flying display! I asked them about number of aircraft and split between C-47\DC3 and they replied "We are thinking of 6 aircraft evenly split (between C-47 and DC3 I assume). Engine runs we don't know as yet. That is subject to a score of security matters".

D500 (was Upgrade to Nikon D4?)

A down side is the weird decision to have 1 XQD and 1 SD slot however this is easily forgotten about Nikon are doing that on all the new models which I did find odd as I use the second slots as an overflow card so I don't have to change cards mid display but I guess they are doing that as a way of ...

Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR

I'm looking for a second airshow lens to cover the shorts that are too close for my 200-500mm.

Anyone have any experience of this lens for airshows (esp on a FX body).

D500 (was Upgrade to Nikon D4?)

Yep I was initially put off by the D500 as it would be a "step back" going to DX from FX (pair of D610's) but I can see the advantages with the D5 sensor and 153 point AF (which fills the frame almost on a DX) plus of course you get 1.5x crop factor so my 200-500mm would be 300-750mm. The ...
