Re: Old Warden Drive-in Evening Show

Lovely shots Peter, thanks for posting.

Out of interest, what time did you have to get there to secure such a good spot?

Re: The Sywell & Air Leasing Thread

A really busy day at the airfield today with plenty of activity around Graceland. Spitfire ML407 was up twice during the afternoon and I also spotted the tail of Mustang "Contrary Mary" in one of the blisters, not connected to the aircraft. In preparation for this weekend, Aero Legends Spitfire NH34...

Re: The Sywell & Air Leasing Thread

There will be Spitfire flying Sat 18th - Mon 20th July between 0900-1300 and 1330-1730. There's no indication of which Spitfire(s), but I would guess it is ML407? Aero Legends latest update on the recent return to flying operations only talks about flying from Headcorn. From some chat on one of the...

A great set.

The quality of the photos doesn't matter when the subjects are that good!

Re: Current List of Airworthy Classic Aircraft in the UK

Key Publishing did a UK Warbird Directory special edition in 2017 which detailed all airworthy warbirds and restoration projects. Obviously that is a few years out of date now but it still provides a pretty decent overview. You can get it digitally via Pocket Mags. Hopefully they will do another one...

Re: Malta Airshow

I booked flights for this back at the start of January, before we had any idea of what was going to happen. Currently, citizens arriving in Malta from the UK have to qaurantine for 14 days. However, according to the FCO website this is due to be relaxed on the 15th July. Fingers crossed some sort of...

Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread

I forgot to post this on Tuesday, but during a work Zoom call DH.104 Dove G-OPLC drifted over the garden during some really intense rain and low cloud. I was really surprised to see it up in such weather! It came from somewhere over Cosford way and tracked pretty well all the way into Coventry. An i...

Re: The Sywell & Air Leasing Thread

I can hear something throaty buzzing about so maybe she’s up again today- I imagine AL will be trying to keep their pilots currency The weather over the last week has been either too windy, or low cloud and persistent rain. Next week is looking a bit more promising for some currency flying. The las...

Re: The Sywell & Air Leasing Thread

Can you confirm the opening time for the gates ? (if you know)... I have seen 12pm mentioned (was 8:30 pre lockdown). Hi Peter, I believe during the week they are opening the gates at 1200 at the moment. Hopefully that will revert back to pre-lockdown timings, as you say. I'm not sure about the wee...

Re: The Sywell & Air Leasing Thread

The Sywell Aerodrome Facebook page posted a COVID-19 update earlier this evening. There will be Spitfire flying Sat 18th - Mon 20th July between 0900-1300 and 1330-1730. The Sywell & Air Leasing Thread

I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread for people to discuss the comings and goings at Sywell. Hopefully, others think so too? The taxiway connecting the main apron and the Air Leasing apron has been completed and the third blister is coming along nicely. I popped over on my lunch break...

It flew over Northamptonshire en route back to Coningsby today with what looked like a photo ship flying nice and close alongside. Maybe some air to air photos to come?
