Re: Sentry Eagle 2017

Amazing set and love the special schemes, Oregon special (39) does it for me. Tiniest of tiny points, 82-046 (21 and 24) is a two-seater and therefore a D, not a C. But you knew that!

Re: CVN 75 The Truman Show

I seem to recall a recent report in one of the magazines (CA?) saying that USN had issued instructions to tone down colour. The cynic in me says this is to lower expectations prior to widespread introduction of F35C to the fleet. Stealth coatings are allegedly expensive to maintain, and in any case ...

Re: Most influential aircraft company?

Sir George Cayley - Yorkshireman - Father of aviation. Taught the Wright Brothers all they knew... Definitely earlier, and acknowledged by the Wrights as influential, but not a manufacturer, a serial builder of prototypes, and I don't believe he ever established a Company. Doesn't fit the question,...

Wright Brothers. First to fly a powered aircraft, first to repeatedly build to the same design. After that, everyone else is copying.

Don't know if its significant, but 2 x KC10 Clean 01/02, on ADSB Exchange, came out of New Hampshire, couple of orbits east of Long Island getting into trail with 500ft vertical separation, headed of East along the coast. Just did a single orbit over Nantucket but headed off east again. Headed towar...

Nice to see a RAF front seater on the Growler.

More likely an Aussie, they use the same ranks and also have Growlers themselves.
Nice shots, interesting that 41 where involved in Flag too.

Re: Machloop

Apart from generally illustrating the ongoing tone-down of UK fast jets (Royal Anonymous Force?), no 6 seems to be a J with underwing tanks. When the J was introduced, it was said that as it was more efficient than the K, it could go further without them then the K with, hence they weren't required....

Re: Mach Loop 26-04-17 Corris & West

Very nice set of pics. I'm intrigued by the pod on the centreline of the F-15E in pic 6, anyone know what this is? Never seen this before. Eng I Think that looks like a dummy boeing Talon HATE pod which provides secure, integrated communications capabilities to aircraft, such as the F-15C and F-22,...

Well thanks for the flip headline Brevet on an issue that has caused injury and death over the years. I am glad to say the MoD takes it bit more seriously: From the British Horse Society: After the tragic death of Mrs Heather Bell, which was directly attributed to an incident with a low-flying heli...

Re: 28 Squadron Anniversary Chinook

Not the case. 28 sqn was set up at Benson last october with 4 a/c, all displaying the sqn badge on the aft pylon. They have been operating from there since then. The anniversary cab was painted at Odiham but went straight back to Benson when it was finished a couple of weeks ago. They visit Odiham ...

Re: 28 Squadron Anniversary Chinook

Notwithstanding 28 being allegedly based at Benson, the Chinook component of the OCU is definitely operating from Odiham, including the anniversary cab, and others marked up in 28 Sqn markings. Presumably, they'll move into Benson when Merlin has gone and suitable Chinook facilities are in place.

Re: (Some of...) The Best Escort Services in the World!

Not best to judge the absolute quality (though all look good to me), but what a cracking idea - get an airliner, fill it with appropriately minded enthusiasts, and give them an opportunity to see things air-to-air that you'd dream of. Hats off to the Greeks, 2000+ years of innovative thought!
