Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Has anyone else found the Shuttlebus to be dreadful this year? 😅 I've taken it most years and to no problem, this year, Friday was the longest line I've ever seen and it took over an hour get is, leaving was just as bad. And this morning the lone is even longer for the bus, running pretty much the l...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Have to say, the Shuttle bus is a bit of disaster. Waited a very long time and now stuck in some of the worse traffic I've had getting into RIAT.

Re: Summer Evening - Saturday 20th July 2024

Wish this wasn’t on the same weekend as RIAT as there is always something special about an evening display, if the weather plays ball of course!

But there’s nothing here that makes me feel I’m missing too much.

Corsair and Bearcat have been dropped. TFC's Hawk 75 and a Stearman have been added.
To what event is your post referring please

This is for the American Flying Day. A couple of additions and a couple of drop outs too.

Re: Festival of Flight - 29th & 30th June 2024

My only real criticism was the early start times for the flying displays. While I'm sure there are many good reasons for this from an organisational point of view, it goes against the best features of old warden displays and on both days it felt like a bit of a missed opportunity (especially the Sa...

Re: Festival of Flight - 29th & 30th June 2024

A very good day out today! Let's get the, very few, quibbles out the way first - the commentary system needs sorting. It cut in and out the whole afternoon and if they needed to make any emergency announcement to the whole crowd having it cut in and out isn't great and it's been the same at every sh...

Re: Sywell Airshow 2024

I really hope this is a success. Despite the cancellations, it will hopefully be a great show. Very much look forward to the Fokker DVII.

I hope the rethink of selling tickets on the gate isn't because of poor sales.

Is it a USAF one? :)
The picture that they chose to announce this with on Instagram certainly is. And would make sense flying with the P-47 and P-51.

Re: Sywell Airshow 2024

Wouldn't mind some clarity from the Organisers regarding the status of 'Placid Lassie'? Firstly on Static, then elevated to 'Flying' to possibly fill the vacant Tempest slot, now apparently omitted from the Flying Schedule! Very disappointing situation as I want this Event to be a blinding success,...

Re: Festival of Flight - 29th & 30th June 2024

Old Warden is always a great classic show, it deserves respect as a venue with delightful and often unique aircraft. The comments here should reflect that - in my opinion. There's nothing wrong with with critique, it is £45 per adult and that isn't a small amount of money. Shuttleworth does host a ...

Are we assuming the Tempest won't be ready on time and the BBMF will not be airborne again by then? Need some replacements, a Curtiss Hawk or something different from Duxford not usually seen at OW would be nice. Happy to be corrected but I believe the Curtiss Hawk 75 has only ever displayed at Chu...

I rather enjoyed the Hawker Fury's display. Don't know if it was dependant on where you were standing. (I happened to be close to where it was parked) The commentary system at Shuttleworth proved a little annoying where I was, cutting in and out for a lot of the show. And as echoed on here, the Spit...

Still says more to be announced on the website. I'm guessing that's the Swordfish, it hasn't been been added on the website yet. Still think that should be removed when everything has now probably been announced. To be fair the website usually says that up until the show day. Take it with a pinch o...
