Re: Festival of Flight - 29th & 30th June 2024

Are we assuming the Tempest won't be ready on time and the BBMF will not be airborne again by then? Need some replacements, a Curtiss Hawk or something different from Duxford not usually seen at OW would be nice. Happy to be corrected but I believe the Curtiss Hawk 75 has only ever displayed at Chu...

Re: Duxford Summer Airshow - 1st & 2nd June 2024

In the words of Will from Inbetweeners: ‘Well that was f***** dreadul’ The flying? The event? The organisation? Everything? Was it the event that was advertised? No. Was most of that the IWMs fault? No. There was some weirdness. Having aircraft cancel, "because they are booked for another even...

Re: Best of British - 12th May

I rather enjoyed the Hawker Fury's display. Don't know if it was dependant on where you were standing. (I happened to be close to where it was parked) The commentary system at Shuttleworth proved a little annoying where I was, cutting in and out for a lot of the show. And as echoed on here, the Spit...

Re: Best of British - 12th May

Still says more to be announced on the website. I'm guessing that's the Swordfish, it hasn't been been added on the website yet. Still think that should be removed when everything has now probably been announced. To be fair the website usually says that up until the show day. Take it with a pinch o...

Re: Warbird operators to be evicted from Duxford...?

To be honest how a DH9, an aircraft that was based at Duxford doesn’t fit into the IWM long term goals, is anyone’s guess. So who knows what will end up happening. You do know there is a DH.9 in AIrSpace. I’m well aware there is a DH.9 in Airspace. However I feel the value of an aircraft that can f...

Re: Warbird operators to be evicted from Duxford...?

There has been a lot of murmurings going on but no official conformation. Guy Black did do an interview stating that IWM didn’t see their collection of aircraft fitting into the long term goals of IWM Duxford. There’s a lot of suggestion it’s the hangarage agreement that’s the real issue. With oper...

I can't deny the F-86 is a fantastic addition, I do however hope that's the end of the aerobatic participants as I think it certainly has more than enough. Hopefully the show will be rounded out with other participantion.

Re: Duxford flying finale

I don't think it was a bad show, but I don't think it was a worthy celebration of 50 years of airshows at Duxford. It had some nice moments, the finale being an obvious one and it was nice touch that the Tempest was out on static but there was also a couple of misfires too. Personally, it could have...
