Re: Duxford School

Thanks Brian
Is the flying display watchable from the school,or is it too far away?......
Only ever heard/read of people parking up at school and viewing from fields/footpaths closer to IWM.
Wanted to stay in the school grounds if possible for use of facilities as i will have my children with me.

Re: Duxford School

Thought i'd bump this as nobody answered my questions on the other thread! ......
Could anyone tell me if the school's any good for viewing the flying display from as a base?
Or is it only really used by people for parking up and walking closer?

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion

My youngest boy was 6 months at his 1st riat.Took him every year since & he's 9 now and absolutely loves airshows. I wouldn't recommend sitting on the rope with nippers though,we got there one year (sunday 2012 i think) and moved by our own choice before the flying even started. We found the fro...

Re: 2018 Yeovilton Air Day

We've been to the last 8 RIAT's and it's starting to feel a bit samey, apart from the odd "special flypast" A bit samey? A quick count up and not including the USAFE flypasts, I can easily get to 17 acts that flew in 2017 that weren't there the year before including such gems as B-2, Ukrai...

Re: 2018 Yeovilton Air Day

Seriously considering yeovilton over fairford this year.My one and only visit in 2013 with my children was a great success as it's completely different to RIAT (not just the flares & commando finale). We've been to the last 8 RIAT's and it's starting to feel a bit samey, apart from the odd "...

Re: Duxford Air Festival 2018

Still we have no idea on participation at this event, unless Brian is just teasing us? Too many copy paste sites to credit, but the general situation appears to be:- Duxford Air Festival 2018 flying aircraft. Flying Display Aircraft: • Tiger Nine formation team (F) • AeroSuperBatics WingWalkers (F)...

And that has what to do with flying legends. Please enlighten me as to when the F35 has been a legend.

Wasn't the h/f a late addition in 2016,and not on any initial schedule......
Think that's what the o/p was getting at

Re: May Airshow

I don't think parents should be penalised on how many children they have I would be interested to hear why you think people who don't have kids/ choose to attend without their kids should subsidise your entrance price. I'm quite happy to pay a 'fair' price but when a people carrier full of people i...

Re: May Airshow

The above says it all for me,£34 for 1 adult and 5 children.Perhaps if children paid say a fiver Duxford might manage to drop the adult price a little. Same at Fairford adults I feel are subsidising the under 16 free entry. All for encouraging youngsters as they are the future crowd at shows but fe...

Re: May Airshow

Although the line-up was superb, Duxford are sadly dammed if they do, and dammed if they don't. Stack the display full of DX based aircraft and people moan that's "same old"... bring in displays from elsewhere and they moan that they're ignoring what they have to hand. I thought they got ...

Re: Advance Ticket Sales Good idea or not?

For me as a dad bringing children the only incentive for buying advance tickets for duxford shows was the free child per adult offers they did up until last year. The fact that they've taken that away plus doubled the price of a child ticket (since their 1st show in 2009) making it £75 for me and 2 s...

Anybody got any tips for this one (what time to arrive etc etc).Never been before & as it's on my 40th this year and we're staying in hayle that week thought it would be rude not to.
