Re: Duxford Flying Finale Saturday 8th October
Apart from about 10 of us on the footbridge hardly any one on the airfield made a move to go, I can’t believe they were all staying for ‘Otto’ as entertaining as he is . Why should anyone have to miss an act they've paid to see just to be able to get out of a car park in less than 2 hours? And sure...

Re: Duxford Flying Finale Saturday 8th October
I arrived just before 1000 and the parking was haphazard and now listening to the departure horror stories I feel a bit better about watching the Typhoon from the footbridge so I could get a head start out. It paid off because I sailed out at 1655. Apart from about 10 of us on the footbridge hardly ...

Re: Duxford Premium membership
I have Premium membership and I originally had trouble getting my discount on my Sunday tickets. I went to the correct ‘members area’ to book tickets and it was charging me £35 which didn’t sound like much of a discount . I dug out the Flying Legends email which had a link which took me to the corre...

Re: Lakenheath Eagles 15th Feb
Great shots , it was a lovely day to make my return and these are a handy photographic record of my visit. I didn’t arrive until after 10 and left at half 2 to avoid the rush hour heading south. I saw the returning and overshooting 492nd jets though and left after a 6 ship of ‘Reapers’ headed off. T...

Re: Sunny Suffolk Monday 12th Feb 2018
I was there today and there were plenty of overshoots. 4x ‘Bolars’ returned after lunch and performed numerous missed approaches. I haven’t been for years and it was an enjoyable few hours.
The forecast looks good again tomorrow so it’ll be worth a trip although due to half term it is fairly busy.

Re 'The People's Mosquito ', I am always put off by putting 'People's ' in front of anything. Its something to do with me being forever reminded of the UK's worst PM to date after he said 'People's Princess' after the death of the Princess of Wales back in 97.....or to use his weird pronunciation 'p...

I thoroughly enjoyed that........dare I say more than the Thunderbirds. It has already been said that European air shows are the way to go now, especially in the wake of Shoreham. If you have a flexible employer or are better still retired I think the European air show calendar is worth considering....

Lovely photos.
I was there flying a DR400 yesterday around lunchtime, I scrolled frantically through hoping to see it!
I'd love to know the story behind the aircraft that appears to have a 41 Squadron marking on its tail?

Re: G-TFSI (Miss Velma) and G-SPIT sold to North Weald aviat
Thankfully I managed to get on one of the NWHA 'sit in' experiences not long before the trio left. It lasted over 4 hours and we were allowed great access to the aircraft . I can sit in a Spitfire anytime, but the chance to sit in a Hawker Fury and Mustang plus the Griffon Spitfire is a rare thing u...

Re: Reds to Get new jets!
If they aren't able to continue with jets I think it's time to bring the Red Arrows to an end. I'm sorry to say I regard the turbo prop teams like Team 'Horlicks' and the rest as loo break / stall browsing opportunities. The RAF will no doubt want a team if that happens but I think a team without je...

Re: Chuck Yeager not a British aircraft fan!
I've read the Leo Janos book on Yeager and it is a very good read. The old fella is entitled to his opinion even if he does appear to be in the minority regarding British and German designs. I can't understand the hysteria and hype surrounding the talentless shouty sweary bucket of lard that is Adel...

A Mosquito flying in the UK would also be one of the rare occasions IWM Duxford could justify their silly advance airshow ticket policy

Re: Duxford September Airshow 2016- 10th and 11th September
The 'wait until the last minute till you buy a ticket' policy will only work with a regular Duxford line up. If Duxford are able to attract one or two crowd pullers for an event in the future then the show runs the risk of selling out and you are back to taking your chances weeks in advance. The adv...

Re: Problem Solving Duxford
IIRC, the only occasions where Duxford have had an overcrowding problem was when there was a 'star item' eg 'Two Lancs' , 558 etc. All I've read on here is about the lack of quality of Duxford shows now. The return of a Mosquito to Duxford would be classed as a crowd pulling star item and then an ad...
