Re: 5th June - Jubilee Flying Circus

I'm making a point about a show I would like to go to, and being a pensioner these things don't come cheap. And paying £29 a ticket for the season premier this is quite a jump in price. I sympathise, although I do feel that pleas of poverty are slightly undermined by the list of photographic equipm...

Re: 14th May - Evening of Espionage Show

I should also have added that the Bedfordshire Steam Fair, a huge and hugely popular annual event which had been taking place at Old Warden for some 20 years, decamped in 2019 when Shuttleworth hiked the hire prices up to an unacceptable level. The event now takes place at Turvey House.

Re: 14th May - Evening of Espionage Show

It isn't just on flying days that Shuttleworth has lost the plot. I live locally to Old Warden and used to enjoy popping up to the cafe for a tea and bacon sarnie with my old mum on a weekend, and if you were lucky an aircraft or two might land or take off. We also used to like walking round the Swi...

he 99 year old veteran smiling as he inspected the Hurricanes (apologies my memory isn't great for names these days and he deserves better). I think his name was Archie McGuinness. I could be wrong though Archie McInnes. Sad news - The Times reports today (3rd August) that Archie McInnes died on We...

Re: Military Airshow 7th July

Amen to all that has gone before. I felt a bit sorry for the elderly gentleman talking about his experiences as his voice was rather lost in the noise of the aircraft flying at the time. It was very noticeable that there was no great rush for the exit after the Hurricanes had displayed. A lovely sun...

Because it's written in the T&C's that it's not refundable. Should always read the small print.

From which I conclude you're saying that Duxford doesn't take out adverse weather insurance. The question remains - why not?

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2018

In fairness to Duxford, I would imagine at this late stage, most of their expenses will be irrecoverable. I don't really see that they should have to cover a financial loss because of the weather. Does Duxford take out insurance against bad weather? If so, ticket money ought to be refundable. If no...

I was there on Saturday and as a non-expert had a pretty good time of it, despite the proximity of two amiable Italian photographers who, having elbowed their way to the fence, chose to stand on either side of me and spend the entire day shouting across me in their native language, the dialogue only...

I think the fact that the Vampires (and the MiG 15) are the property of the Norwegian Air Force Historical Squadron speaks volumes!

Get shut of the exclusive gold & silver pass enclosures that take up the prime spots along the crowd line, there's little enough room there, now that the tank bank and the jet pan are off limits. If there is one thing that will antagonise the paying customers, it's the "them & us"...
