Museum aircraft leaking liquid

I noticed that on a lot of the museum displays a lot of the old biplanes were leaking some kind of liquid, oil I guess. There were catch plates and cans with oil pooling in them.

What is the story behind this?

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion

I remain sceptical until confirmation from DBH. I remain sceptical until I can see the landing lights twinkling on finals. I remain sceptical until I can see that the aircraft has actually landed. My word, that is sceptical, believing its going to crash on approach! If the landing approach of the U...

What an excellent show, no other comment!

One question though with photography, was it just me, or was the light quite bad for it like Duxford. All the flying displays just came out under shadow.

Is it just me or are we all waiting for the announcements to pick up soon?

I feel for a RIAT line up, we a bit dry still for this time of year.

Re: For those with PlayStation plus...

This worked out great for me as I was thinking for past few weeks I wanna play MGSV again and this time go through the rampage route I was just about to pull the trigger buying it until it was announced on PSPlus.

What a fantastic game this is, one of the best I've played this generation.

Re: September Air Show 2017

Having the displays taxi back right in front of you was something I've never seen before. Even the B-17 and Dakotas. You could smell the exhaust fumes of all the merlins and feel the heat from the vampires and the Mig 15. Wow.

I'm happy I went and I'm attending tomorrow also can't wait.

Re: September Air Show 2017

At Duxford are we able to leave stuff in the car to go get it again just before the flying display such as chairs? So we don't have to carry it around the museum or static.

Re: RAF Scampton Air Show 2017

I thought in general it was a good show, only the BBMF got hampered by wind conditions, everything else went up. Kudos to some of the acts getting out in that windy weather. Static was a little minimal but good quality, good fighter jets, the Swedes looked really interesting. The Typhoons afterburne...

Re: The Victory Show 2017

Omg what a disaster :(

Sympathies for everyone at the event. I could hear a really beasty engine yesterday evening from Earl Shilton not far away must have been the Spitfire in question.

The future for air shows seems really bad :(
