Re: Display Awards - Who won what?

Certainly a worthy recipient of an award, were the ALCA's. Love a good role demonstration! Well done them and the whole Czech contingent.

I'll be very surprised if the Swiss didn't receive an award! What a demo!

Re: RIAT 2019

If they think that The Blades might help them do that, so be it. I sincerely doubt that any Generic UK Family will be booking an expensive day at RIAT on account of that team. Why noy just wait for the Little Winterdon Village Fete and see them for free? Perhaps you're right. Or perhaps they want a...

Re: RIAT 2019

Might seem like silly questions , but how is the speed , for example on a straight pass above the runway , calculated ? Is it downlinked from the aircraft instruments or is there some form of measuring equipment employed by the airshow organisers ? Thanks I believe there are ground based radar syst...

Re: RIAT 2019

I think it will be like a lot of US displays. A pass, then a too long pause to reposition for a next pass, pause, pass, pause, pass etc, not to forget, a completely over the top commentator that is unaware he/she is not in the Segregated State of Trump. It is not for nothing that even US pilots tha...

Re: RIAT 2019

I can understand people's frustrations with these non-Sunday participants but if they (NATO flypast, RAF F-35B etc.) are only able to do the two days, should DBH turn them down for the sake of fairness? I for one think not as it'd only look bad on them from the participant's POV, especially when the...

Re: RIAT 2019

That's very true. Whirlwind and Wessex on static versus Blades/Breitling Jet Team, another matter in my opinion. The Wessex in particular is beautiful and looks today just as she did in service and hasn't been seen in a long time. Again, this is just my opinion (to which I am entitled) that without...

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion

Has it happened before in recent years that the regular thursday participation updates have seized this early (June 14th this year )? I don't believe so. However, bare in mind the updates started on the 11th January and have been thick and fast since then, whereas last year the updates started over...

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion

Which website would that be? Take a wild guess Not sure if it’s still there, but they promised an F-35B display on the website a while back, and in a lot of adverts for RIAT. Promised? I believe the word they used was *expected, (alongside the Red Arrows) which is different entirely but can be cons...

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion

Re the Drone flying into RIAT... We have had the BAe Jetstream ( with crew onboard to keep it kosher), plus in '07, we had a Creech based Predator ( I found my fujifilm roll last year and was amazed the exposures still came out!) So, to cut a long story short..I'm afraid not. No Drone/ RPV has flow...

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion

Have RIAT ever had a UAV of any kind fly into the show? I'm aware of the Scan Eagle flying in 2006 I think (Happy to be corrected) but I'm thinking something larger. Is it something we could expect to see more of at airshows as the technology progresses and air forces take deliveries?

Re: RIAT 2018 wishlist

You're joking right? Not at all Under the NATO Strategic Airlift Interim Solution ( SALIS ), Antonov and Volga have each had an AN-124 permanently stationed at Leipzig-Halle Airport since March 2006, with additional uplift available at short notice. They've been hauling NATO around the globe for mo...
