Re: Winter Light at Newcastle

Some fine images there, Robert. The winter light is perfect with the other benefit of winter shooting being the absence of heat haze. A N hemisphere winter shoot is on my bucket list.

Nice image; good DoF, accurate colours and white balance, sharp. I recently read that the airline is updating their colour scheme which may explain its presence.

Andy, I sent you an email with a link to the YouTube video. I'll also put the link here because others may find it useful. I'm sure that, like skinning a cat, there are plenty of other solutions.

Some top images there, Andy! The last one is very nice! Most of the bathtub (F35) images show sharpening halos at the border of the sky and dark parts of the aircraft, particularly the tyres. They will likely be absent from large-file versions of the images, but quite obvious here. There's an easy f...

Many fine examples of an excellent panning technique with slow S/S and relatively large effective focal length. Nice work!

All images are excellent, Dean, and you've inspired me to attend the Athens flying week when I'm in Greece again. It's my parents' birthplace and where some our family live, so no excuses for me.

Melbourne's Tullamarine International.

Finally, some decent weather, on-time arrivals and free from Covid travel restrictions meant that I could shoot a few airliners at our international airport. One that had evaded me for quite a while was the Air India 787-8, so very happy to capture it in good light. Likewise the -9 Scoot. The bonus ...

An excellent set of images. The first three look as though they were taken in challenging light but you have managed to achieve good contrast and colour repro. Likewise for the last string of civil a/c, from the A380  That ABX '67 could do with another coat of paint after some proper surfa...

The combination of the dark clouds and setting sun make for some dramatic images. The Emirates A380 is my fave of the bunch.

A lovely set of images. FWIW, my fave is the sepia-toned image. If I could only attend one airshow for the year, then I would definitely choose one held at OW. The place looks like the perfect setting; historic location, grass strip, good light, fab aircraft. What more could one ask for? Hope to get...

Antique Aeroplane Ass'n of Australia Christmas Toy Run 2021.

G'day all, my airshow drought was recently broken when I attended the annual toy run at Tyabb airport, south east of Melbourne. Whilst it's not technically an airshow, there was some flying conducted by a few aircraft owners, plus a couple of visitors dropped in on their way to somewhere else. After...

A fab bunch of images, particularly the second one which shows an excellent panning technique. Wow, I didn't realise that they're still in frontline service because the only one I've ever seen is a privately-owned example here in Oz. They're a little like I am - well past their best. Thanks f...

Re: Flying Legends 2021 - 10th & 11th July at Sywell (Merged)

If you look at the map as indicated in a previous post is not the sun behind you most of the day? My assessment of the sun position and light was made based on my estimate of a 1pm(ish) start time for the airshow. From sdad's response it appears that the sun position isn't a problem. The sun is nev...

Re: Flying Legends 2021 - 10th & 11th July at Sywell (Merged)

Had a quick look at the location and checked SunCalc to determine the sun position during July. Light could be a challenge after about 12:00, as I found at Duxford, if the display line is along 03/21. I acknowledge that it's not all about photography but that's why we're all members of this great fo...
