Ellie in the news
Nice piece in The Times about our very own Ellie Carter this week. Well done, Ellie, and I hope you told that instructor where he could stick his thermals. Fear of flying? Not for Ellie Carter, the 16-year-old ace Ellie Carter is Britain’s youngest female pilot. Harry Wallop, who is nervous parking ...

Think it would have been good having Dan Snow on, yes he's a good Historian think he would have been good especially on the war planes episode No. Please no. The man is a raving egotist who manages to put himself at the centre of everything he does. I saw the live cinema event he did for the Dambus...

(I've been collecting them for about 30 years and i'm perfectly sane).
You do realise you're not supposed to keep the full ones, don't you?

To add to the other good points raised, I think the show although still very good hasn't been the same since the loss of Paul Bowen. And here I think you have hit the nail firmly on the head. Paul Bowen to my mind was the only one who really 'got' IAT/RIAT, and balanced it well between the enthusia...

Calling Nikon D7500 users
After many years of using Minolta/Konica/Sony equipment, my most recent being the Sony A580, I am looking to upgrade. Partly because I also want to upgrade my lenses as well and Sony A-mount lenses seem to be disappearing quicker than virginity in a brothel it looks like I will be jumping ship. Afte...

Re: RIAT 2019
I think the Friday opening concept at RIAT is good with VVIP visits and School Visits, BUT it shouldn’t be full price tickets and ALL special set-pieces / special flypast should be performed Saturday and Sunday only. Let Friday remain as a “preview day” with just a handful of display items. EXACTLY...

There said it - you can't discuss Friday shows without mentioning the rip off full price this year. And that is exactly the point. I am attending the two arrivals days only this year; Mrs. Ouragan is coming to the Cotswolds with me and will be chucking me out of the car at the P+V gate before roari...

Re: Climate Change - Airshows
So we now have this petition and the protest at Yeovilton yesterday, along with local authorities deciding against supporting events. All small scale and not really having much of an effect. For now. The airshow industry and we as proponents and supporters of such events need to wake up to the fact ...

Surprised nobody has mentioned the RJFs Brexit mention.. I rather liked the little dig at Mr. Trump, when the RJF commentator mentioned that 1066 would have been a footnote in history if not for the RAF's overwhelming air superiority... But I digress. A superb day out, great weather and with that u...

Re: RIAT 2019
With the RAF seemingly leaving it till the last minute to confirm anymore statics, wonder what they are likely to send - a Typhoon from each sqn, plus a F35 on static? The RAF always leave it late to confirm static aircraft but this year we should expect a couple of 5 & 11 sqn Lightnings from B...

Full story from the Teignmouth Post : Green agenda puts airshow in doubt Climate change arguments are threatening to shoot down plans for a major airshow event in Teignbridge. Purse-string holders at the district authority are minded to knock Teignmouth’s new spectacular out of the sky because of it...

Re: Climate Change - Airshows
Perhaps, but Teignmouth's local authority cannot do anything about that. It can, however, do something about an airshow in its area which it believes goes against its environmental policies. As can any local authority that has the same opinion when the organisers ask for permission to close local ro...

Re: Climate Change - Airshows
Just been reported on local TV news that the new Lib Dem-led council in Teignmouth feels that the inaugural Teignmouth airshow does not fit in with its green policies and the climate change argument and while this year's show will go ahead, it is not likely to support future events.

The fact that yet again DBH didn't invite Russian participation shows how closed-minded people can be. We are not at war with Russia. There is no prohibition on travel. Aeroflot flies into Heathrow daily on wings built in the UK. Inviting them, even as just an unarmed transport, would build camarad...

Was there not an aircraft designer who when asked why his latest design had four engines, replied "Because there wasn't room for six". Close. It was allegedly the founder of Pan Am, Juan Trippe, who when asked why he only flew on four-engined aircraft, replied that it was because no compa...

The Kawasaki P-1 has four engines because that is the number that the JMSDF asked them to put on it. In any case, ask most maritime recce crew whether they'd be happy to stooge around several hundred miles from the nearest land with only two engines available and I don't think the answer would be ve...

Not venturing to far North then! Sadly that merely reflects the airshow scene in general (not that there's an awful lot left in the south now either). It's pretty "Kris Kris Tofferson!" living in the north west of England in particular if you have any interest in military aviation. I fanc...

Re: Shoreham Airshow crash trial
With the attention now shifting to the Coroner's Inquest, it will be interesting to see how the cognitive impairment argument impacts on the verdict, and what recommendations may be made as a result. The fear that it could impact on the future of air displays is, in my opinion, entirely warranted. E...
