Re: QUERY: 1996 Classic Jets - the airliners

I saw them from a mound of earth which is now LHR T5, they took off from STN I think. The Iberia 727 actually landed (on the other runway) as it was a scheduled flight It was an Air Canada 767, a BA 777 was last up with Raymond Baxter on board It was televised by the BBC https://www.youtube.com/watc...

Re: Eastbourne 2024

Red Arrows will display on the 15th only (Thurs). I thought they would already be in Canada by then but I am not complaining 🤷‍♂️ Hopefully they announce the Typhoon, Chinook and F35B. That's interesting. I've been on Thursday before and it was the only day the Reds weren't there. In fact there wer...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

The views from the gate next to P&V West were pretty rubbish just random takeoffs through a high fence with no view of the airfield or other movements; if you have the chance I would pay the money for a decent view.

Not sure if they broadcast on FM on the Monday that would be really good!

Eastbourne is funded by donations (about 400k-450k) each year, while Bournemouth was funded (partly?) by the BCP Council
Ok thanks. What I meant was that if as stated elsewhere all 3 shows use the same source to book the displays if Bournemouth goes under it doesn't look great.

Re: Death of the Bournemouth Air Festival

This doesn't bode well for Eastbourne or Clacton either

FWIW just returned from Dieppe which hosts a hugely successful kite festival every year, but that's what it is, not a replacement for aircraft

Re: Eastbourne 2024

That's interesting; the BBs were the only private jet team operating widely along with the BJT (who are no more). That just leaves the national air force teams. 4 days at Eastbourne with Team Raven as the headline act would sound a bit overambitious in terms of attendance. I presume RAFAT will be at...

Re: Eastbourne 2024

Yes I knew neither Tonkas and BJT were still around. Just wondering if there were any other big jet displays to fill the Reds' absence. Patrouille Tranchant (Magisters) would be one from across the Channel that consists of jets and smoke - surely they could keep the public happy in place of the Red...

4 days again 🙄 Will be interesting to see what team replace the reds This is my local show and has produced some blinders over the last 30 years; It would be really good to see a big jet display in the Reds' absence, (looks over the Channel) We've had it before, 2 Tonkas in 2012 and Breitling in 2017

Re: Budget airlines

Having flown easyJet to and from Spain last week I can say there is nothing Budget about the quality of their crew! Due to high winds on the approach to Malaga the pilot aborted at 1000 feet and headed for Almeria, there was an immediate announcement from the cabin crew. After an anxious couple of h...

Budapest Aeropark

Found out about this on the way home; £6 entry fee well worth it but a scary walk to get there from the 200E airport bus. It mostly tells the story of the MALEV era pre Boeings. They also have a Mig21 https://aeropark.hu/en/ they do tours of the active airfield although was not allowed on spec https...
