Re: Bruntingthorpe Closure?

Doesn't sound good. I get the impression it was David Walton's passion for aircraft that allowed the aviation groups to coexist with the day to day business. The new owners probably don't share that passion. Let's hope something was written into the sale agreement that the aircraft would be allowed ...

Re: XH558 update

I think people should refrain from the obvious told you so comments, and leave it here. Regardless of your feelings about what should have happened in 2015 and afterwards I felt very sad to read this frank and honest announcement. Although what I expected to eventually happen anyway, still very sad ...

Re: A380 production to end

Most pleasant flight I have ever been on was on an A-380, Paris to LA, with Air France. Amazingly smooth, loads of room, and with the two full decks it seemed so massive. I'll book an A-380 flight again for sure now its days are numbered.

I'm certainly looking forward to seeing the solo F-35 display in Louisiana in May, hopefully they will throw it around a bit!

I'd love to see some of these Russian types at RIAT, especially the bombers. Sadly can't see it happening in the present political climate. Maybe one day though.

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

Much of it is repetitive RR but new things are discussed which I believe are important. The recent publication on the annual accounts is clearly something that should be scrutinised and discussed. This is a charity which raises a 7 figure sum each year under the misleading name Vulcan to the SKY. If...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

I've checked the IPs for the accounts in question and I see nothing particularly suspicious, they're all coming from completely different IP ranges and ISPs, however if someone wants to hide their tracks it's not exactly difficult to do, but would it really be worth it? So without proper proof can ...

Re: Bruntingthorpe Cold War jets

Sounds great - some really amazing machines on display. Does the Nimrod do high speed runs again? Probably not yet. The rudder was damaged in a storm a couple of years ago, so is only about half the area it should be, and I know they were having some issues with brake hydralic pressure but that mig...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

How on earth could anyone proove a vague username is actually someone specific? And if someone is to complain that they are being accused of being someone they are not, shouldn't they provide some proof to backup their complaint? If someone wants to accuse me of being Robert Pleming I'd be quite fla...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

Question thats of inportance is, where are the spare engines being kept, are they in a good dry damp free storage. I know 558 will not need flying engine again but even good ground runners need some good looking after. Also where are the 6 flying fit engines for Canberra wk163, still none the wiser...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

Indeed thanks for posting that, I hadn't realised someone had recorded the event. Really nice to see and hear the 558 move again although it highlights that we will only ever be able to witness that from a fair distance at Doncaster. The up close and personal taxi runs of Bruntingthorpe of the 90s a...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

Well great news, taking the EGR to the next level with a slow speed taxi run. So basically: the VttST volunteers are about at the same stage now as the VRT volunteers were at Southend around 2 to 3 years ago. The next milestone I think, as the VRT achieved last Christmas, would be a non-public mediu...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

My understanding was that if they were sold, it was for a token amount. If the Trust don't need them, why not give the other running Vulcans first chance on them or Mr Walton in case there is anything usable for XM715, that would be nice thing to do. After that, I agree they might as well be sold, f...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

I hope that the assets of the Trust are being decreased in the accounts to reflect what is sold. That's actually a very good point. I dont remember seeing anything in the company accounts listed as assets other the 558 and 163. Surely the parts and whatever shop stock they hold should be accounted ...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

Surely the only important one is 3) as 558 is surviving at Doncaster since the end of 2016 due the generosity of the airport. If that were to change any time soon things would be very bleak. But why would they, she's not taking up parking space they need. Although perhaps if they read the VttST's co...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

Granted the money may be being used for preparing for the future MLD. But it's hard to see how and harder to see why so much has been expended with not a lot to show for it. You mention planning permission - but wasn't that provided for free by a local company? A million pounds raised and spent in 2...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

So it remains a mystery how they burned through 30K in IT costs if that doesn't include Social Media management. 30K isn't far short of the entire turnover for the year for VRT at Southend - even when they had a hangar and managed to do a taxi run (albeit not a public one yet). Or think of it anothe...

So, perhaps another reason why Bob-A-Job's cabal refuse to relinquish control - if they do, they become liable for the HLF's £750,000... I have no idea what the terms of the agreement between the HLF and the Trust are - and what happens if the Trust is wound up. According to the HLF website there w...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

The 30k figure for computers - could that possibly include web hosting fees? I also wonder if fees paid to IT contractors / website designers etc. could that be included under 'computers'? The Web site and hosting would account for very little. The website is actually a very dated design that hadn'...
