Re: A week in the Cotswold Water Park - CVIX's RIAT 2023 (very pic heavy)

Excellent set Especially liking the French C135FR shots. That first one looks like its going to land and join the static! (we can only wish)... and the second - well a highlight of the flying display and certainly brightened up the Friday - I wonder if there is anything that can convince the French ...

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

I was at RIAT got all 6 days and thoroughly enjoyed each one - although the Friday less so. But fair play to the RAF Typhoon - I’ve known years when the pilot wouldn’t even have got in the cockpit in those conditions. 6 days meant I got to see all the displays, but thoroughly enjoyed the French C135...

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

There is often that discussion of “when does a star item become just an item”? We reckon you’ve got 2 years, and by the third people are saying “oh that again”…. Indeed, given the attitude of some on here to the Spanish Harrier, perhaps you only have a year, and if it’s repeated too quickly, it lose...

Re: Ayr international airshow - September 2023

Of course it is appropriate that the RAF supports our home shows, and especially the sea front sector, which are seen by 200,000 plus, in the case of Ayr, generate millions in economic benefit and act as an important recruiting tool. The biggest clash, which has been avoided this year, is between Bo...

Re: Air show degradation

I thought I would post some thoughts on this topic, based on conversations with all the Event Organisers of air displays with 5 assets or more. I have been carrying out this work for the British Air Display Association since 2014, and have gathered data on the state of the industry through the Shore...

Top Air Show Moments of 2022?

Are the UKAR team putting together their top 10 this year?
For me it was the return of RIAT and in particular the great hour on the Friday with the Swedish Historics in the circuit and flyby from the E4B.
I’m sure that combo is never going to be repeated.

Re: AIRPOWER22 - Zeltweg, Austria

Surely comparisons are pointless - we want a diverse air show scene across Europe, with every location having its strengths (and weaknesses)… places to visit to give us the unique or the different? Of course everybody could learn from everybody else - try and take the good bits and apply them if pos...

Re: Southend Airshow planning to return

By "filler show", I take it you mean "not for those on this Forum" ? But seafront shows aren't aimed at you - they are for the between 200,000 and 1 million members of Joe public who want a free day out enjoying some aeroplanes (and especially the Reds, Typhoon & BBMF) and th...

Not sure why there is this concentration on fighter types ? I’ve been attending since 1998 and this year I finally get to see Austrian Typhoons! The Rafale and USAF stuff will be back, but the Austrians? Not so sure…. There seems to be a lack of interest in the helicopters on this thread , yet when ...

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread

So is that it? Acts are either a highlight or padding ? Not just participants who are part of a wider varied air display?
But these kind of comments have been aired every year since the likes of UKAR started… obviously a 3 year hiatus due Covid hasn’t changed that …

Re: Airshows 2022

Season is pretty much back to normal , although the circuit has seen the loss of Sunderland, Yeovilton, Legends, Newcastle (N.I.) and East Fortune. Of those, only Sunderland have quoted Covid as a primary reason for cancellation.
However, Portrush and Teesside have returned to the circuit.

Top Airshow Moments of 2021?

Although there were no military shows in 2021 and the sea front sector was severely curtailed, 95% of the smaller events took place - is that not enough for a Top 10? Or even a Top 5 - something? Just listened to the “2021 Retrospective” podcast and it hardly mentions the 2021 airshow season, despit...

Obviously not the only air show in Europe this year, as Old Warden, Guernsey, Kauhava and Vesivehmaa will testify... indeed, with the OW DH Show on Sunday, it wasn’t even the only air display of the weekend! But the organisers deserved better luck with the weather having jumped all the hurdles to ge...

It was great. Perfect weather. The only seafront display in Europe (the World?) in 2020 and, with the news from Duxford, it looks like the only UK display from RAFAT. I know how lucky we were. 48 hours to the only sea front display in Europe this year, and keeping everything crossed. As is always the case, a few last minute changes. Well done - good to see some air display shots from this year featuring fast jets, display teams and flares.
What was the official attendance for the Show per day?
I take it the Reds has an A400 support?
