Re: Worst Airshow

Brawdy late 80's, Cracking lineup and then the weather closed in, torrential rain, ridiculous cloud base, a VC-10 flew over, didn't see a thing. It got so bad, we ended up taking shelter under the wing of a Belgian F16, then they cancelled the flying altogether. The only silver lining was the weath...

Re: Worst Airshow

I seem to remember ?Waddington 2005 was quite wet - I think this was one of the last big airshows I went to with my dad, I think we sat and watched quite a bit of it from the car park - was a good selection of aircraft tho from what I remember

Re: Worst Airshow

Scampton on the Sunday - I packed a picnic, chairs, and anything else we might need. We ate our picnic whilst sitting under a brolly and used the picnic blankets to combat the creeping hypothermia. We got there early so we got a decent viewpoint and a couple of minutes before the display starts some...

Re: Best Airshow That You Have Attended?

Histoically mine would be Binbrook for the last lightning show no1, Waddington 2013 no2 and Mildenhall mid 80's onwards coming in 3rd. Must admit that I like the smaller venues and Old Warden flying proms is also a favourite for sheer atmosphere. Events at East Kirkby and Sywell are also pretty good...

Re: #GetTonyAFlypast

I watched online and thought it was a very fitting tribute to the crew and Tony who has kept their story alive. The missing man formation was perfect for the occasion. As to people not knowing the reason for the fly past - how many of us have crash sites literally on our own doorsteps and know nothi...

Re: Squadron Prints - frames

pleased it isn't only me - they don't look too bad do they? my only problem (which is why I said not ideal) is those little bleeding black flies that got in between the glass and the frame

Re: Gatwick Airport Closed Due to Something, possibly

it might have been better for them if it had been just one person speaking to the press - but then the press have a reputation for badgering people until they say something they later regret. The press are not blameless in this mess either

Re: Gatwick Airport Closed Due to Something, possibly

don't get me wrong I'm not making light of what could have been a disaster if a drone had been hit but the way it has been handled hasn't left me with a lot of confidence. The military should have been allowed to manage the situation much earlier. I feel sorry for the couple that were accused and th...

......we have been able to corroborate 115 reports [since then], 92 of them are from credible people,” he said. “Of course, we will have launched our own Sussex police drones at the time with a view to investigate, with a view to engage, with a view to survey the area looking for the drone, so ther...

Re: Gatwick Airport Closed Due to Drones

I do find this worrying. Santa Claus, sleigh, reindeer and all are due to be flying about within 24 hours. Even thought Santa doesn't exist, will we be shutting all the UK's airports just in case he does and may present a danger to aircraft? You have cracked it - it was Santa all along, making sure...

Re: Gatwick Airport Closed Due to Drones

Gatwitck : The Phantom Drone m so the damaged drone they had supposedly found and were processing as quickly as possible ? that doesn't exist either? I am sure all those who got up close and personal with the floor in departures and those that didn't make their flights at all at Gatwick will be abs...

Re: Gatwick Airport Closed Due to Drones

Their profile just didnt gel with what we saw happening - they appeared to be amatuer droners at best. This was a pre-planned professional job. As I type I note we have Gavin out in the Ukraine. would tend to agree, I am a little surprised nobody has claimed responsibility yet - unless there is sti...

Re: Gatwick Airport Closed Due to Drones

A few genuine questions as I don't know that much about drones - other than they are a menace to other air users in the wrong hands. as they were first seen at night they were presumably lit? If the weren't lit then how were they seen and how did whoever was piloting them keep track of where they we...

quite close to Donna Nook - so see a fair bit of military, but also see a lot of civil going into Kirmington
