Re: F-35 Ooops?

It’s probably worth waiting until something official comes out before speculating. Once something official comes out the fun goes out of speculating! Exactly, what's the harm? I'm willing to wager that if something went through the engine it wasn't recognisable on exit, rain cover or not...

Re: F-35 Ooops?

By rain cover, do they mean the intake blanks? As it was referenced up thread, the silica gel incident on the Vulcan was understandable to a degree, but I really fail to see how a bright red intake blank can be failed to be removed! I agree. I would hope the crew would notice something like that on...

Re: F1 ( and other motorsports ) 2020

The car is 95%, the driver 5%. It’s been the case for decades. But it’s a very important 5%, the bit that wins the races the car has no right to win or loses the races the car should walk. Yes, Hamilton would likely have made the the right call. A lot of that will have come from experience - he mad...

Re: F1 ( and other motorsports ) 2020

I'd like to see Russell have a go, ... it'd be nice to see what he can do in a top car. I think that question has been answered comprehensively. It also goes to show how much difference the car makes. F1 didn't miss Hamilton although I think he would have been confident enough to tell Mercedes he's...

Re: F1 ( and other motorsports ) 2020

The first stage of the final round of the 2020 World Rally Championship is underway. Elfyn Evans could win the championship at the event. While I don't think he's the best driver in the field, it's results that count and he's currently sitting at the top of table. Good luck to him. Unfortunately Ev...

We had thundersnow apparently last night. Couple of flashes of lightning with accompanying thunder: cue people phoning the police to report explosions. Police Scotland said it best: "We have received a number of calls regarding people concerned about explosions heard. Please do not be alarmed,...

Re: F1 ( and other motorsports ) 2020

...the man who dropped his Williams on a safety car lap... That was funny but learning can be hard when you're young. Quite a few good lower tier drivers have failed to deliver when given a chance in a top car. Lets wait and see how he does. Bottas has to be at least 3/10ths faster or he'll look th...

Re: F1 ( and other motorsports ) 2020

Vandoorne is travelling to the circuit that weekend so must be favourite. I'd like to see Russell have a go, not because he's a Brit but because he's outperformed the Williams and it'd be nice to see what he can do in a top car.

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

If anything we're offering a better, more rounded curriculum as we have more of a focus on the arts and things like philosophy and mindfulness (and no, that's not just colouring in!) this year. That's a statement that fills me with fear for their future. By contrast the Chinese are teaching mathema...

So - if go into a pub and buy an orange juice you wont catch covid, if you buy a coke you wont catch covid, But if you buy alcohol you will catch covid......................Where is the science. The main reason people go to a pub is for a social alcoholic beverage. By restricting that you will vast...

2021 Event cancellations

While not airshow related, the Isle of Man TT has been cancelled in 2021. It runs from 29 May to 12 June. The same issues that led to this decision are directly related to next years airshow season. Is this an indication of things to come?

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

It’s a red herring in the context of all this, but since you’ve brought it up; private education does not necessarily equal a good education, nor even necessarily a better education than a state one. Not private education as such, just parents who are putting in a huge effort to ensure their kids g...

Granted, they aren't relying on the state but they see this as an excellent opportunity to get ahead of their peers. Guess it depends on ...

The interesting question, however, will be answered post NZ lockdown, when the country finds out whether the rest of the world is irrelevant to New Zealand or New Zealand has become irrelevant to the rest of the world. Or possibly both. NZ have a strategy that works well in the short term. In milit...
