So, during the Xmas break, can anyone drive to the Isle of Wight or Cornwall to enjoy the full Tier 1 experience? (and put them up to Tier 2 in the process?)
As things stand, yes you can as different rules apply 23rd to 28th December inclusive, with no restrictions on travel between tiers.

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

As I understand it, all the vaccine candidates prompt your own immune system to create Covid-19 antibodies. If you have a suppressed immune system (as does my father) your body has a poor ability, and in some cases no ability, to make antibodies, hence the vaccine won't work. Hence the alternative u...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

These stats that show only x% of cases were picked up in such and such a location are pretty meaningless when you consider the places with low case instances have largely been shut for most of the year (gyms etc) while the ones with high instances have been open (supermarkets).... I mean... surely ...

Also how can you have a poll with 116%?

You can read this as 76% don't want to be in lockdown over Xmas.

It's all down to how you spin the facts.
It doesn't add up to 116% The values for 1 day, 2 day etc are simply a breakdown of the "At least 1 day" 38%. Presumably22% said "don't know".

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

The virus needs a host cell in order to replicate. Outside of a host cell the individual particle can survive for several days in the right conditions. And as a technicality, having no DNA they are not really living organisms. I'm being deliberately obtuse here but maybe we should say it's life in ...

You could be on to something. That old game show opener - animal, vegetable or mineral - doesn't seem to apply to viruses, so maybe they're the aliens around here!

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Depends what you mean by "the test". There are two parts (1) getting the swab to pick up virus particles from up your nose, and (2) getting the swab processed in the lab by PCR. As an analytical chemist, I think of the first part as sampling and the second part as testing: I think most lab people w...

Is there any othe rway to test for the virus apart from PCR tests as surely It's an unreliable test thats been confirmed even by Hancock himself and one of the other Tory chaps (Can't remember his name) but both said the relaibility of the test was very low. @Roger - Wikipedia is the site that would say Boris has a good track record and good following.
Wrong, wrong, wrong - the Wikipedia entry for Boris Johnson does not use the phrase "track record" at all, and none of the 17 times the word "following" is used refers to people who follow him!

Every day over 5000 Covid deaths occur around the world. How many deaths are you willing to tolerate while you wait for long-term safety data, in order to overcome your fear of the vaccine?

I was looking at the Google Earth images, which are dated 31 May this year, and runway 14/32 is clearly marked out on the grass. The runway is also listed on the Sywell Aerodrome webpage and airfield layout plans.

But yes, I was suggesting it as the display line, rather than the active runway.

I am sure FL and Sywell management must have considered and have tentative solutions for all the issues raised here. We need to be patient to find out what they are. The Silverstone weekend is not yet confirmed by F1, but Silverstone themselves are selling tickets for the weekend of 9 - 11 July, so ...

Presidential pardons only affect federal crimes, so the New York AG's investigations of state crimes would continue.

Also remember that we are dealing with the Trump mindset. He doesn't like losing. The scary thing is that he could run for President in 2024 and 2028!
Hopefully he's a convicted felon by then, but strangely if he was he would not be disbarred from standing!

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

There is a clear distinction between "deaths due to" and "deaths involving", as explained in Footnotes 5 and 6 to the Figure 2 graph you have chosen to use from the ONS website. It's "deaths due" to that are the important ones in assessing the significance of Covid vs. flu + pneumonia. The "deaths i...
